Santos (elbow) has struck out 16 batters while allowing two unearned runs on two hits and nine walks over 10.1 innings across his five appearances with Double-A New Hampshire since being reinstated from the 60-day injured list July 9.

Santos opened the season on High-A Vancouver's IL while recovering from an elbow injury, but he never appeared in a game for the affiliate before advancing to Double-A once he completed a five-outing rehab assignment between the rookie-level Florida Complex League and Single-A Dunedin. The 21-year-old has been making bats miss at a steady clip at Double-A, but he'll need to rein in the free passes if he's to earn high-leverage work out of the bullpen once he eventually reaches the big leagues.

The Rangers reinstated Mahle (elbow) from the 60-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Astros.

Mahle will make his 2024 debut Tuesday and his first MLB appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in May of 2023. The right-hander threw 74 pitches in his most latest minor-league rehab start and shouldn't face and significant workload restrictions Tuesday. In six rehab starts, Mahle allowed five runs in 18 innings with 18 strikeouts.

Musgrove (elbow) joined the Padres in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, and manager Mike Shildt said there's a "high probability" the pitcher returns from the 60-day injured list this weekend in Miami, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Musgrove went 3.1 innings and threw 43 pitches in his first rehab start with Single-A Lake Elsinore on Sunday and said Tuesday that he feels "physically ready" to rejoin the Padres rotation. He'll likely be limited to just 4-to-5 frames against the Marlins in what will be his first start at the big-league level since late May. Musgrove has been sidelined with a bone spur and bone bruise in his right elbow.

Lopez (forearm) began playing catch Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Lopez exited his start July 28 with forearm tightness and Atlanta was hopeful that the injury wouldn't require an IL stay. However, Lopez was officially placed on the injured list Monday. Still, he was able to resume his throwing program Tuesday, an encouraging sign for the 30-year-old, who'll be eligible for reinstatement Aug. 17.

Schmidt (lat) threw 20 pitches of live batting practice Tuesday and will face hitters again Saturday, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Schmidt was reportedly feeling good after Tuesday's session. After throwing batting practice again Saturday, the Yankees will decide whether or not Schmidt is ready for a rehab assignment. The 28-year-old has exclusively worked as a starter the past two seasons and, per Kirschner, the Yankees intend to build him up as a starter. However, Schmidt doesn't openly oppose coming out of the bullpen if that's what's best for the team. The right-hander has been shelved since late May and remains multiple weeks away from returning.

Warren will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Angels, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

The Yankees will go with Luis Gil in the first game of the twin bill before turning to Warren, who will be up as the 27th man before likely being sent back down after the start. Warren permitted four runs with a 6:2 K:BB over 5.1 innings against the Phillies in his major-league debut July 30.

Triple-A Norfolk placed McDermott on the 7-day injured list Tuesday with a right scapula stress reaction, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

McDermott's last appearance for Norfolk came back on July 30, and he struck out 10 while yielding just two runs over six innings. However, the right-hander evidently picked up an injury during or after that outing and now appears likely to miss multiple weeks.

The Marlins optioned Anderson to Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

Anderson saved the bullpen with 5.1 innings of relief in Monday's loss to the Reds. He wasn't going to be available to pitch for several days, so the Marlins will replace him with a fresh arm.

Daniel and the Angels will not play Tuesday after their game against the Yankees was postponed due to inclement weather.

The contest has been rescheduled as part of a traditional doubleheader Wednesday. Daniel will now take the ball for the Angels in one of those two games.
