Brown (9-7) allowed five runs (four earned) on nine hits and two walks while striking out eight over 5.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Pirates.

Brown had gone at least six innings in 12 straight appearances, earning a quality start in 11 of them. Michael Taylor's two-run home run in the sixth inning assured Brown would have one run too many and one out too few for another quality start, and this outing also snapped his three-start winning streak. The right-hander is now at a 4.11 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 126:44 K:BB through 116 innings over 22 appearances (21 starts) this season. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Rangers.

Woodford will start Wednesday's game versus the Astros, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Woodford had started seven games for Triple-A Indianapolis after joining the Pirates on a minor-league deal in June, putting up a 2.29 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 37:5 K:BB over 35.1 innings. His excellent performance earned him a promotion to the big-league roster Tuesday, and he's now set to make his first start in the big leagues since June 6. The 27-year-old righty gave up 10 runs in 8.1 frames across his two starts with the White Sox, but his recent hot streak may translate into major-league success with Pittsburgh. It's unclear if the Pirates have any plans to include Woodford in the rotation beyond Wednesday.

Falter (5-7) allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and struck out three without walking a batter over 5.1 innings to earn the win over the Astros on Tuesday.

Falter missed most of July while recovering from left triceps tendinitis. He was good in his return, though he allowed a home run to Yainer Diaz. Falter threw 47 of his 66 pitches for strikes, so it may take him another couple of starts to get fully stretched out. The southpaw now has a 3.95 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 64:28 K:BB through 95.2 innings over 18 starts this season. His next outing is projected to be at home versus the Padres.

The Yankees optioned Warren to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

Warren was called up from Triple-A to make his MLB debut Tuesday versus the Phillies while filling in for Gerrit Cole, who is expected to miss just one start while dealing with general fatigue. The young right-hander worked 5.1 innings in his start, giving up four earned runs on four hits and two walks while fanning six hitters in a no-decision in the Yankees' 7-6 win in 12 innings. The 25-year-old had turned in a 6.11 ERA and 1.41 WHIP through 20 starts in the minors prior to receiving a promotion.

Nola allowed two runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Yankees. He struck out four.

Nola allowed at least one baserunner in each of the first six innings Tuesday, though he'd manage to hold the Yankees to a lone first-inning run before Jazz Chisholm led off the sixth with a solo homer. It's just the second time in Nola's last eight starts that he's failed to make it through six innings. Overall, he's 11-4 on the year with a 3.43 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 130:34 K:BB across 22 starts (136.1 innings). Nola's currently lined up to face the Dodgers on the road in his next outing early next week.

Elder (2-4) earned the win over the Brewers on Tuesday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6.1 innings.

Elder did much better in this outing than he did in a July 20 spot start versus the Cardinals, in which he allowed six runs over five innings. The right-hander has been inconsistent at the major-league level, allowing six or more runs in three of his nine starts this season. He has a 5.67 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 40:15 K:BB through 46 innings. The chances of Elder getting another start during this stint in the majors will likely depend on if Reynaldo Lopez (forearm) is able to pitch versus the Marlins this weekend.

Ross (2-5) allowed five runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings, taking the loss versus Atlanta on Tuesday.

Ross missed over two months with a back strain, and he was a little rusty in his return. He threw 61 of 87 pitches for strikes but gave up four runs in the third inning and a solo home run to Jarred Kelenic in the fourth. Ross now has a 4.98 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 39:18 K:BB through 47 innings over 10 starts this season. He is not guaranteed to stay in the rotation, as the Brewers traded for Frankie Montas and have also gotten good results from Colin Rea and Tobias Myers in Ross's absence.

Warren did not factor into the decision Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out six.

Warren pitched better than his final line would indicate. He got off to a rough start in his major-league debut, allowing a run in the first inning before surrendering a three-run homer to Austin Hays in the second -- however, the 25-year-old right-hander would hold the Phillies scoreless over his final 3.1 frames while striking out the side against the heart of Philadelphia's order in the fifth. Warren figures to head back to Triple-A with Gerrit Cole (general fatigue) expected to return this weekend, though he should be on the short list of potential call-ups should the Yankees need pitching reinforcements down the stretch.

General manager Dana Brown said Tuesday that McCullers (forearm) has not yet resumed throwing, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

A setback in McCullers' recovery has prevented him from throwing since July 9, and although he is not dealing with any structural damage, his progress remains slow. Brown noted that the right-hander may still be able to pitch for the Astros in September, but he won't have a clear timetable until he is cleared to resume his throwing program.

Munoz will start Wednesday's game against the Rays at Tropicana Field, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

After getting roughed up for six earned runs in five innings in a no-decision against the Orioles this past Thursday, Munoz was sent to Triple-A Jacksonville a day later. He didn't end up making any appearances for Jacksonville and will step right back into the Miami rotation after being recalled Tuesday in the wake of Trevor Rogers being traded to the Orioles. With six Miami starting pitchers currently residing on the 60-day injured list, Munoz should build up some job security if he's able to come through with a credible performance against the Rays.
