The Tigers transferred Mize (hamstring) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The move frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for left-hander Bryan Sammons, who was called up from Triple-A Toledo. Mize has resumed throwing off a mound after being sidelined for the last few weeks with a strained left hamstring, but he won't be eligible to rejoin the Tigers until at least early September.

Soriano allowed six runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out two batters over 2.2 innings in a no-decision against Oakland on Sunday.

Soriano came into the contest having picked up a pair of wins while allowing just two runs over his previous two starts covering 13.2 innings, but he couldn't keep the momentum going Sunday. The right-hander got through the first two frames in good shape but allowed four hits -- including two doubles -- and two walks in the third before being pulled. Five runs scored while he was on the mound, and another was charged to him after his departure, though only three were earned due to a Brandon Drury fielding error. Soriano will try to rebound in his next start, which is tentatively slated to take place at home against the Mets this weekend.

The Tigers scratched Flaherty from his scheduled start Monday against the Guardians, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Flaherty isn't dealing with an injury, but the Tigers will hold him out Monday and avoid the risk of exposing him to a setback on the health front that could jeopardize a potential trade ahead of Tuesday's deadline. Though no trade appears to be imminent at the moment, Flaherty will likely be a sought-after arm, given that he's on an expiring contract and has been dominant over his 18 starts with the Tigers this season (2.95 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 133:19 K:BB in 106.2 innings). The Tigers haven't named a replacement starter for Monday's contest.

The Cardinals acquired Fedde, outfielder Tommy Pham and a player to be named later or cash considerations on Monday in a three-team trade involving the White Sox and Dodgers, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports. The White Sox acquired infielder/outfielder Miguel Vargas, infielders Alexander Albertus (undisclosed) and Jeral Perez and a player to be named or cash considerations, while the Dodgers received utility man Tommy Edman (wrist) and right-handers Michael Kopech and Oliver Gonzalez.

Fedde has had a breakout season in Chicago following one year in Korea and provides an immediate boost to a Cardinals rotation that's struggled for the last several weeks. With the addition of Fedde, Andre Pallante will likely move to the bullpen. Fedde's last start with the White Sox came Saturday, so he could be ready to make his Cardinals debut as soon as Thursday in Chicago against the Cubs.

The Red Sox acquired Priester from the Pirates on Monday in exchange for Nick Yorke, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Boston won't have room in the big-league rotation for Priester, but he'll supplement the organization's starting pitching depth. The 23-year-old right-hander hasn't shown much at the major-league level to this point, collecting a 6.46 ERA and 67:40 K:BB over 94.2 innings. However, Priester was a well-regarded prospect with a 3.50 ERA and 25.1 percent strikeout rate during his time at the Double- and Triple-A levels. He will report to Triple-A Worcester as he begins his time in the Red Sox organization.

The Reds transferred Ashcraft (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday.

The transaction frees up 40-man roster space for catcher Eric Yang, who had his contract selected from Triple-A Louisville on Monday. Ashcraft is nursing a right elbow strain and won't be eligible to return until September, though it's possible his season is over.

Falter (tricep) struck out three batters and allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks in three innings in his rehab start Wednesday with Triple-A Indianapolis.

Falter tossed 60 pitches (42 strikes) in the rehab start, which could be the only outing he needs in the minors before making his way back from the 15-day injured list. The Pirates have an open spot in the rotation for Tuesday's game in Houston, and Falter would be available on five days' rest to fill the opening. If Falter is in fact activated to start Tuesday, he could be on a slight workload restriction for what would be his first outing with the Pirates since July 6.

The Orioles recalled Povich from Triple-A Norfolk to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader with the Blue Jays, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

The left-hander has offered uneven results in his first seven starts this season for the Orioles, putting up a 6.27 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 24:18 K:BB over 33 innings. Povich will technically be the 27th man for the doubleheader and is likely to be optioned back to Norfolk after the spot start.

Rodon (11-7) got the win Sunday over the Red Sox, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 6.1 innings.

Rodon put together another excellent start to help the Yankees take the series in Boston. His only blunder of an inning came in the fourth when he allowed back-to-back home runs to Rob Refsnyder and Connor Wong but was backed by plenty of offense from his guys. Rodon has now exceeded six innings in consecutive starts for the first time since early June and has now allowed three runs or less in 17 of his 22 starts this year. The 31-year-old owns a 4.34 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 129:36 K:BB in 120.1 innings and will aim for his third straight win when he takes the ball at home versus the Blue Jays over the weekend.

Manoah revealed Monday in a social media post that he had the brace removed from his surgically repaired right elbow.

Manoah underwent an internal brace procedure six weeks ago to address ligament damage to his elbow. While Manoah will be out for the season and for the start of the 2024 campaign, he could face a speedier recovery from his procedure than if he had opted for Tommy John surgery, which often entails a 12-to-14-month rehab timeline for pitchers. The Blue Jays likely won't have a better feel for when Manoah might be ready to make his 2025 debut until seeing where he stands in his rehab program next spring.
