Stripling (0-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks over five innings Friday, striking out six in a 6-4 loss to Cleveland.

Stripling struggled right out of the gate by yielding three runs in the first inning, including a two-run shot from Jose Ramirez. Stripling managed to turn in a few scoreless frames before Cleveland pushed two more runs across in the fifth. His velocity was down a bit, with his fastball averaging just under 91.0 mph after he averaged 92.0 mph with the Giants last season. The veteran righty is currently in line to face the Red Sox at home next week.

Allen struck out three and yielded three runs on six hits and zero walks over five-plus frames Friday en route to earning a win in Cleveland's 6-4 victory over Oakland.

Allen opened the game with three scoreless innings before J.D. Davis launched his first of two home runs off the Guardians' starter. Allen allowed multiple home runs in just three of his 24 starts last season. He forced 14 whiffs on 82 pitches, which would've been his fourth-highest single-game total in 2023. The southpaw is currently in line to start in Seattle next week.

Quantrill (0-1) struck out one and yielded five runs on nine hits and one walk over five-plus innings in Friday's 7-3 loss to Arizona.

Quantrill served up back-to-back home runs to Lourdes Gurriel and Christian Walker in the first inning. Through five frames Quantrill had allowed just three runs, but he was charged with two more after his exit in the sixth when the Rockies bullpen allowed two inherited runners to cross the plate. The 29-year-old righty posted a disappointing 5.24 ERA across 99.2 innings in 2023, and his outlook doesn't seem much better in 2024. Quantrill is currently lined up for a road matchup with the Cubs next week.

Kelly (1-0) struck out eight and allowed one run on three hits and no walks over 6.2 innings Friday in the Diamondbacks' 7-3 win over the Rockies.

After coughing up three hits in the first two frames, including a solo shot by Elias Diaz, Kelly settled in to retire 15 straight Rockies. The right-hander forced 12 swinging strikes on 79 total pitches, with four whiffs each via the fastball and slider. The slider was a main focus during the offseason, and the pitcher threw it 14 times -- the second-most sliders he's thrown in a single game. "Definitely the biggest takeaway, I think, for me was the slider today," Kelly told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. "The slider definitely jumped out as it seems like it's shown itself as a useful pitch." Kelly has been a consistent force for Arizona recently, registering a 3.33 ERA across 378 innings from 2022-2023, and he's off to an impressive beginning to the 2024 campaign. He's currently projected to take the mound at home against the Yankees next week.

Rodon yielded a run on five hits and three walks over 4.1 innings Friday against the Astros. He struck out four and did not factor in the decision in a 7-1 win.

Rodon coughed up a run in the first inning but was able to avoid danger throughout the rest of his start, including a third-inning jam when he punched out Jose Abreu and Chas McCormick to strand a pair of runners. After posting a brutal 6.85 ERA in 2023, Rodon looked shaky at times Friday but generally kept the game under control. He forced 11 whiffs and the fastball touched 98 mph. The 31-year-old southpaw is currently in line to start in Arizona next week.

Quintana dropped to 0-1 in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Brewers, giving up two earned runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four batters across 4.2 innings.

Quintana's day started strong, as he was able to get through three innings without giving up a run. However, things began to fall apart when he gave up a leadoff home run to Christian Yelich in the top of the fourth inning, and a sacrifice fly from William Contreras followed by a Yelich single in the fifth led to the southpaw's removal. A lack of run support didn't make things easier on the 35-year-old either, as the Mets' offense managed just one hit -- a Starling Marte solo home run. Quintana is in line to make his next start Wednesday at home versus the Tigers.

Peralta (1-0) earned the win Friday against the Mets, surrendering just one hit -- a solo home run -- while striking out eight batters and walking one through six innings.

The 27-year-old righty was brilliant in his first career Opening Day start, and a solo shot by Starling Marte in the second inning ended up being the Mets' only hit of the game. After the next batter, DJ Stewart, reached base on a walk, Peralta responded by retiring 13 consecutive batters. He will have some big shoes to fill as the Brewers' ace this year with Corbin Burnes now in Baltimore and Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) out for the season, but Thursday's outing may have been a good sign of what's to come this year. Peralta's next start will likely come Wednesday against the Twins in Milwaukee.

Javier allowed four hits and a walk over six shutout innings during Friday's 7-1 loss to the Yankees. He struck out six and didn't factor in the decision.

The Yankees only managed to put two runners in scoring position against Javier and he had no trouble working through that traffic. The 27-year-old threw 56 of 90 pitches for strikes, though he only forced eight whiffs. Still, it was an impressive outing against a strong Yankees lineup after Javier posted a 4.56 ERA across 162 innings in 2023. He's currently lined up to face the Blue Jays at home next week.

Wheeler came away with a no-decision Friday, scattering five hits over six scoreless innings in a 9-3 loss to Atlanta. He struck out five without walking a batter.

The right-hander had an impressive beginning to his campaign against a very tough opponent, but the Phillies' bullpen let him down after Wheeler left the mound with a 2-0 lead. He tossed 63 of 89 pitches for strikes and generated 18 swinging strikes, and after fanning 212 batters last year -- the second time in his career he's struck out 200 or more -- Wheeler seems poised to rack up an impressive whiff total again in 2024.

Strider came away with a no-decision in Friday's 9-3 win over the Phillies, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out eight.

The right-hander fired 59 of 90 pitches for strikes and generated 18 swinging strikes in a typically dominant performance, but Atlanta didn't take the lead until the eighth inning. Strider led all pitchers with 35 strikeouts this spring in 22.2 innings, and he didn't slow down in his first regular-season start. After racking up a league-high 281 Ks last year in 186.2 innings, Strider will take aim at 300 in 2024.
