  • Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: Recalled ahead of Monday's start

Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Rodriguez will make his long-awaited return to the Orioles rotation Monday against the Dodgers at Camden Yards. The right-hander gets a tough matchup in his return to the big leagues, and things won't get any easier later this week, when he's expected to receive another turn through the rotation on the road against the first-place Rays. Nonetheless, Rodriguez's upside warrants a roster spot in fantasy leagues even if managers don't intend to use him right away. The young right-hander posted a 1.69 ERA in 37.1 innings at Norfolk after being optioned in late May.

  • Jose Quintana SP | COL

Mets' Jose Quintana: Team debut pushed to Thursday

Quintana is now slated to start Thursday's game against the White Sox at Citi Field, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

When he was reinstated from the 60-day injured list this past Friday, Quintana had been in line to start Tuesday's series opener with the White Sox, but he'll instead make his Mets debut two days later after the organization's brain trust decided he could benefit from some additional rest. Quintana built up to 4.1 innings and 78 pitches in his fifth and final minor-league rehab start July 8, so he's not expected to face any major limitations from a workload standpoint when he takes the hill Thursday. The veteran southpaw is coming off a resurgent 2022 campaign split between the Cardinals and Pirates in which he posted a 2.93 ERA and 1.21 WHIP in 165.2 innings.

  • Mike Soroka SP | ARI

Braves' Michael Soroka: Needed in relief Sunday

Soroka gave up two runs on three hits over three innings of relief in Sunday's loss to the White Sox. He struck out three without walking a batter.

Luis Robert took Soroka deep in the sixth inning to account for all the damage off him, but Atlanta was already facing a 6-1 deficit at that point. The early exit of Kolby Allard (shoulder) forced Soroka into action Sunday for 30 pitches (25 strikes) -- the right-hander is currently scheduled to get the start Friday, but the team could shuffle around its rotation and bump him into Allard's spot Saturday if the southpaw is forced to miss his turn, or even just to give Soroka an extra day's rest.

  • Josiah Gray RP | WAS

Nationals' Josiah Gray: Allows 10 hits to Cardinals

Gray (6-8) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals, allowing four runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out two in five innings.

The 10 hits allowed were a season high for Gray, and the two strikeouts matched his season low. He kept the Cardinals scoreless through three frames despite allowing two baserunners to reach in each inning before finally faltering in the fourth. Gray would go on to allow five base hits leading to three runs before surrendering a big fly to Nolan Gorman in the fifth. Gray's 3.59 ERA casts over the 1.47 WHIP and 4.85 FIP that come along with it, suggesting he's had some luck on his side this year. He averaged at least a strikeout per inning in each of his past two seasons but sits at just an 8.0 K/9 this year while his walk rate remains up from previous years. He'll look to right the ship against San Francisco this coming week.

  • Jack Flaherty SP | DET

Cardinals' Jack Flaherty: Earns fourth consecutive win

Flaherty (7-5) got the win over the Nationals on Sunday after allowing three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings.

Flaherty served up a solo home run to Keibert Ruiz in the second but then went on to retire 12 of the next 13 batters before the Nationals eventually tacked on two more in the sixth. It was Flaherty's third straight quality start although it was also the fifth time in his last six outings he's issued multiple walks. The 27-year-old is working with a 4.29 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 96:51 K:BB in 98.2 innings this year. He tentatively lines up to face the Cubs on the road this upcoming week.

  • Tommy Henry SP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Tommy Henry: Takes rare loss

Henry (5-2) took the loss Sunday, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over 4.1 innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out five.

After going at least 5.2 innings in each of his last four starts, Henry was pulled after 4.1 innings (81 pitches) Sunday. He struggled with the Blue Jays' talented lineup, allowing more hits (seven) Sunday than he had given up (six) in his last two starts combined. The loss was Henry's second of the season and his first since May 11 (10 starts). Henry's taken significant steps forward in his second MLB season, owning a 3.89 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, but he still has room for improvement with strikeouts (6.4 K/9) and limiting power (1.4 HR/9).

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Blue Jays' Yusei Kikuchi: Lacks command in brief start

Kikuchi did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks over 4.2 innings against the Diamondbacks. He struck out four.

Though Kikuchi only allowed two hits, he continuously put himself in difficult situations, walking three batters and hitting two others during 4.1 innings of work. The first run against Kikuchi came on an errant pickoff attempt that allowed Lourdes Gurriel to score in the first frame, while the second run came on a wild pitch that plated Nick Ahmed in the third. Kikuchi's lack of control was uncharacteristic, as he hadn't walked more than two batters in six straight appearances and had only hit one batter leading up to Sunday's outing. Kikuchi will look to regain his command in his next projected start, which is lined up to come against the Mariners at T-Mobile Park.

  • Brewers' Adrian Houser: Solid in no-decision

Houser did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against the Reds. He struck out five.

Though Jake Fraley tagged Houser for a two-run homer in the third inning, Houser managed to put together a decent showing Sunday, tying his season high in strikeouts and lasting at least five innings for a third straight start. While Houser owns a 3.79 ERA through 57 innings, his lack of strikeouts (6.2 K/9) and inability to go deep into games (six or more innings pitched three times in 10 starts) make him difficult to trust in most fantasy formats.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Strikes out 11 on Sunday

Cole allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out 11 over six innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Sunday.

Cole was dominant, limiting the damage to a solo shot by Michael Toglia in the second inning. The same couldn't be said for the Yankees' bullpen, which let two leads slip away in the 8-7 extra-innings loss. Cole has earned quality starts in all but one of his eight starts since the beginning of June. The All-Star has a 2.78 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 134:35 K:BB through 123 innings over 20 starts this season. He's projected for a favorable home start versus the Royals in his next outing.

  • Chase Anderson RP | TEX

Rockies' Chase Anderson: Strong showing Sunday

Anderson allowed three hits and two walks with one strikeout over five scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Yankees on Sunday.

Anderson was pummeled for an 18.23 ERA over his last four starts before the All-Star break, but he was much better after some time off. The right-hander remains a risky fantasy option given his home park and shaky overall numbers. He's at a 6.26 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 38:19 K:BB through 54.2 innings this season. Anderson is lined up to next take the mound for a road start in Miami.
