Oviedo conceded two runs on two hits and three walks over one inning while not factoring into the decision in Sunday's 5-4 victory over the Giants. He struck out three.

The Pittsburgh right-hander was understandably rusty, as he pitched for the first time since Sept. 27, 2023 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in December 2023. Oviedo struggled to find the zone in this short outing, firing 43 total pitches while tallying only 23 strikes. The 27-year-old's velocity was diminished in this appearance, as he averaged 94.8 mph on his fastball, down from 95.8 mph previously in 2023. Oviedo is not a viable fantasy starting pitcher while he continues to reacclimate himself to the big leagues. He is currently scheduled to make his next start against the Reds at home this weekend.

Luzardo (10-5) earned the win against the Orioles on Monday, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks with seven strikeouts.

Luzardo allowed three runs on a pair of early homers but bounced back with four perfect frames to match his career high with 10 wins. The southpaw delivered his second straight quality start, generating 15 whiffs on 91 pitches and issuing no walks for the first time since June 11. He'll carry a 4.32 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 147:44 K:BB across 127 innings into a road matchup with the Rangers this weekend.

Verlander did not factor into the decision in Monday's 5-4 loss at Pittsburgh. He allowed three hits and one walk over five innings (no earned runs and one unearned one) with four strikeouts.

The 42-year-old looked sharp for his third consecutive outing, as he notched his second scoreless appearance out of 19 total starts this season. Across his last three games, Verlander has pitched to a stingy 0.60 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB in 15 innings. Through 94.1 total frames, the future Hall of Famer now sports a 4.29 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 81:35 K:BB. Verlander is currently slated to make his next start at home against Washington this weekend, when he'll aim to become the 10th pitcher all-time to reach the 3,500 career strikeout plateau, as he presently sits at 3,497.

Arrighetti (thumb) will be activated from the 60-day injured list to start Wednesday against the Marlins, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

As expected, Arrighetti will rejoin the Houston rotation for its series in Miami to make his first start at the big-league level since April 5, after he suffered a fractured right thumb just a couple days later that sent him to the injured list. During his three-start rehab assignment between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land, Arrighetti logged a 5.73 ERA and 11:5 K:BB in 11 innings. In his final rehab outing this past Thursday, Arrighetti built up to 79 pitches, so he could be in store for a light workload restriction Wednesday.

Alcantara (6-10) suffered the loss Monday versus Houston, allowing six runs on nine hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out five.

The Miami right-hander was cruising through the first three frames of this 100-pitch outing, firing three clean innings. Then the floodgates opened in the fourth, as Alcantara conceded five runs on six hits, including three doubles. This marks the sixth time this season the former Cy Young Award winner has allowed six or more runs out of 22 total starts. Alcantara will carry a 6.44 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 86:43 K:BB across 116 total innings into his next start, currently scheduled to come at Atlanta this weekend.

Alexander (2-1) earned the win Monday at Miami, yielding three hits and one walk with six strikeouts over six scoreless innings.

The 32-year-old right-hander stymied the Marlins lineup in this magnificent 97-pitch performance to tally his second quality start of the season. Miami never threatened to score off Alexander, who allowed just one extra-base hit -- a Graham Pauley double in the third. Across four starts, Alexander has pitched to a 3.57 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB in 22.2 innings. Despite his steady work, he's likely to lose his rotation spot soon as the Astros have starters Spencer Arrighetti (thumb), Luis Garcia (elbow), Cristian Javier (elbow), Lance McCullers (blister) and Brandon Walter (elbow) all working their ways back from injuries soon.

Soroka was removed after two innings in his start Monday against Cincinnati due to right shoulder discomfort, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Soroka can be considered day-to-day until the team has a chance to re-evaluate the right-hander over the next few days. Ben Brown, who took over for Soroka on Monday, would be a candidate to take Soroka's place in the rotation if he's unable to make his next start. Soroka struck out three and allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk over two frames in his Cubs debut.

Soroka left his start Monday against the Reds due to an apparent injury, Mike McGraw of the Chicago Daily Herald reports. He allowed one earned run on one hit and one walk while striking out three over two innings prior to departing.

The team has yet to provide an update on Soroka, whose team debut was cut short after he tossed just 31 pitches over two frames. Ben Brown was called upon to work in long-relief option following Soroka's early exit.

Lalane (shoulder) struck out three batters and issued three walks over two scoreless innings for Single-A Tampa on Tuesday after being reinstated from the 60-day injured list.

On the shelf all season while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, Lalane was cleared to rejoin Tampa after making just one three-inning rehab appearance in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. His control was unsurprisingly shaky Tuesday following his return from an extended absence, as he didn't give up a hit but spotted just 18 of his 40 pitches for strikes and hit a batter and threw a wild pitch in addition to issuing three free passes. The 21-year-old southpaw remains one of the Yankees' top lower-level pitching prospects, but some bumpy outings should be expected over the rest of the season while he looks to return to form following surgery.

Mize (10-4) earned the win Monday against the Twins, allowing three runs on four hits and no walks with four strikeouts over six innings.

The Detroit right-hander worked around three solo homers in this 67-pitch performance to reach double-digit wins for the first time in his five-year career. Mize also managed to notch his first quality start of the second half, marking his seventh total for the season. Through 100.1 total innings, the 28-year-old has pitched to a 3.50 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 88:26 K:BB while conceding 15 home runs. Mize currently lines up to make his next start at home against the Angels this weekend.
