Nick Martinez SP | TB
Rays' Nick Martinez: Another quality start
Martinez (5-1) earned the win against the Angels on Friday, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out five across seven innings. He did not issue a walk.
Martinez allowed at least two baserunners in three of the first five innings of his start. However, he minimized the damage to two runs and stretched his outing through the seventh inning to secure his seventh quality start of the season, which is tied for fourth most in the American League. Martinez sits at a 1.62 ERA over 66.2 innings, which is second-best in the majors among qualified starters this season, behind only Cam Schlittler (1.50). Martinez's next start is slated for next week at home against the Tigers.

Trevor Rogers SP | BAL
Orioles' Trevor Rogers: Quality start ends in seventh frame
Rogers did not factor into Friday's decision against the Blue Jays, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk while striking out three across six innings.
Rogers was in complete command for most of Friday's start, giving up just three baserunners through the first six innings. He was brought back out for the seventh, but that decision backfired on the Orioles as Rogers proceeded to give up two-run home runs to both Kazuma Okamoto and Charles McAdoo without recording an out. It ruined what would have otherwise been Rogers' fourth quality start of the season and first since April 7 against the White Sox. He has given up at least four earned runs in six of his seven starts since that QS, which has Rogers sitting at a 6.84 ERA and 1.56 WHIP over 48.2 innings. His next start is slated for next week against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Blake Snell SP | LAD
Dodgers' Blake Snell: Transferred to 60-day IL
The Dodgers transferred Snell (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Friday.
Snell missed more than a month at the start of the season while working his way back from shoulder fatigue, and he's now due for another extended absence after undergoing surgery on his left elbow Tuesday. He remains without a firm return timeline, though moving to the 60-day IL will force him to remain sidelined at least through the All-Star break. His 40-man spot will go to Santiago Espinal, who re-signed with the Dodgers on a major-league deal Friday.

Casey Mize SP | DET
Tigers' Casey Mize: Lands on injured list
The Tigers placed Mize on the 15-day injured list Friday with right adductor inflammation, retroactive to Thursday.
Mize left his start against the Angels on Wednesday with groin tightness, and although an MRI didn't reveal a strain, he'll still end up on the injured list while the Tigers treat his inflammation. Beau Brieske (thigh) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move, though it remains unknown who will take Mize's place in Detroit's rotation.

Tyler Mahle SP | SF
Giants' Tyler Mahle: Lands on IL with hamstring strain
The Giants placed Mahle on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Wednesday, due to a left hamstring strain, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Mahle may have tweaked his hamstring during his last start Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, when he allowed three runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three across five innings, taking his seventh loss of the season in the process. He's eligible to be reinstated from the IL in mid-June, but the Giants will have a better sense of Mahle's recovery timeline once he undergoes further tests on his hamstring. Logan Webb (knee) was reinstated from the 15-day IL in a corresponding move, but with Mahle now sidelined, the Giants may call up a starter from Triple-A Sacramento if they wish to maintain their six-man rotation.

Logan Webb SP | SF
Giants' Logan Webb: Reinstated from IL
The Giants reinstated Webb (knee) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start against the Rockies on Friday.
Webb has been officially cleared to return from a knee injury that landed him on the 15-day IL in early May. He appeared in just one rehab start with Triple-A Sacramento on May 22, when he allowed one unearned run on two hits and three walks while striking out two across 3.1 innings. Webb had a 5.06 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 48 innings prior to his IL stint, so perhaps he'll be in better form now that he's fully recovered from his knee injury.

Eury Perez SP | MIA
Marlins' Eury Perez: Lands on 15-day IL
The Marlins placed Perez on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to Thursday, due to a right gracilis strain.
Perez was forced out of Wednesday's start against the Blue Jays due to what was initially diagnosed as a right hamstring spasm. Additional tests have revealed a serious enough injury to warrant a stint on the IL for the 23-year-old right-hander, who is looking at about an eight-week recovery timeline, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. That means Perez is unlikely to be activated from the IL until after All-Star break. In a corresponding move, the Marlins recalled right-hander Josh Ekness from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Aaron Nola SP | PHI
Phillies' Aaron Nola: Goes on paternity list
The Phillies placed Nola on the paternity leave list Friday.
Nola will be away from the club for its weekend series on the road against the Dodgers as he welcomes a new baby to the family. The veteran righty's next start is tentatively scheduled to come Tuesday at home against the Padres, and Nola should be good to go to take the ball that day.

David Peterson RP | NYM
Mets' David Peterson: Demoted to bullpen
Peterson has been demoted to the Mets' bullpen, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Peterson has had a disastrous couple months while splitting his time between starting pitcher and bulk reliever, holding a 5.57 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 53:23 K:BB over 53.1 innings. He will be available to pitch in relief beginning Sunday. Sean Manaea is taking Peterson's spot as a starter/bulk reliever.

Jordan Wicks SP | CHC
Cubs' Jordan Wicks: Set for another start Sunday
Wicks is slated to start Sunday's game against the Cardinals in St. Louis, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
Wicks will be making a second turn through the rotation, but he'll receive the start mainly due to the Cubs' dwindling pitching depth rather than merit. The southpaw made his 2026 debut for the Cubs on Tuesday, taking a loss in Pittsburgh after yielding eight earned runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out five over 4.1 innings. Wicks hadn't pitched especially well at Iowa prior to his promotion either, logging a 4.44 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 20:12 K:BB in 26.1 innings across seven starts.
