Red Sox's Richard Fitts: Rehab start on tap
Fitts (pectoral) is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Worcester on Thursday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
The right-hander has been sidelined over a month due to a pectoral strain, but he's now been cleared for game action. Fitts will likely need at least a couple rehab starts in the minors before rejoining the Red Sox. He pitched well in his three outings prior to the injury with a 3.18 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB across 17 innings

Max Scherzer SP | TOR
Blue Jays' Max Scherzer: Resumes mound work
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Scherzer (thumb/back) threw a 33-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.
Scherzer had to have a scheduled bullpen session last week scrapped due to back tightness, but he was able to throw Tuesday without issue. The veteran righty has been out nearly all season with right thumb inflammation. Scherzer will need 1-to-2 more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters, so he is still several weeks away from a possible return.

Walker Buehler SP | SD
Red Sox's Walker Buehler: Back from IL for Tuesday's start
The Red Sox activated Buehler (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Buehler last pitched April 26 but is back to start Tuesday's game against the Mets. On the season, Buehler is 4-1 with a 4.28 ERA and 29:9 K:BB across 33.2 innings. He'll face a tough test against a Mets team that is ninth in OPS against right-handed pitching this season.

Patrick Sandoval SP | BOS
Red Sox's Patrick Sandoval: Throws bullpen session
Sandoval (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
The bullpen session -- which featured 16 fastballs -- was Sandoval's first since he underwent internal brace surgery on his left elbow last June. Sandoval is slate to throw off the mound twice per week as he continues to ramp things up. The hope is that the left-hander can contribute to the Red Sox at some point during the second half, but there's no concrete timetable for him at this point.

Adrian Houser SP | SF
White Sox's Adrian Houser: Gets MLB deal from White Sox
The White Sox signed Houser to a one-year, $1.35 million contract Tuesday.
Houser requested and was granted his release from a minor-league contract with the Rangers last week so that he could link up with the White Sox on a big-league deal. The veteran right-hander has posted a 5.03 ERA and 37:15 K:BB over 39.1 innings at Triple-A Round Rock this season. Houser will join Chicago's rotation and start Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

Chris Paddack SP | CIN
Twins' Chris Paddack: Tuesday's game postponed
Paddack won't start as scheduled Tuesday against the Guardians since the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Mother Nature has wreaked havoc on this series, as Monday's contest was suspended after three innings and was set to resume prior to Tuesday's regularly scheduled game. The suspended contest is now set to resume Wednesday ahead of the second game of the series, and the other game is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader Sept. 20. Paddack is likely to pitch in one of Wednesday's contests, with the suspended game being advantageous since the Twins hold a 2-1 lead.

Gavin Williams SP | CLE
Guardians' Gavin Williams: Guardians-Twins rained out
Williams will not make his scheduled start Tuesday after the game against the Twins was postponed due to inclement weather, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
The teams had been slated to complete Monday's suspended game before playing a full nine-inning affair, but now neither of those contests will be played. The suspended game will now be completed Wednesday, while the other game that Williams had been slated to start will be made up as part of a doubleheader Sept. 20.

Orioles' Chayce McDermott: Recalled from Triple-A
