  • Jack Penney SS | DET

Tigers' Jack Penney: Done for season

Double-A Erie placed Penney on the full-season injured list June 12 with a left shoulder injury, J.J. Cooper of Baseball America reports.

Penney missed the first seven weeks of the season with a hand injury and suffered the shoulder injury on a diving play in the field while still on his rehab assignment June 4. Penney, who turns 24 in August, has yet to play above High-A but hit .364/.417/.636 with one home run in seven rehab games across rookie ball and High-A.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Kicks off homer-fest

Rocchio went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Monday's 13-4 win over Minnesota.

Rocchio kicked off the rout with a two-run shot in the first inning, the first of seven home runs hit by the Guardians. It was the career-high ninth home run of the season for Rocchio, who also has a career-high 46 RBI. Cognizant of the team's cleanup batters ranking last in the league in OPS (.576), Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt deployed the shortstop fourth in the batting order the last two games.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | ATH

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Belts solo shot

Wilson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-2 win over the Diamondbacks.

Wilson has six multi-hit efforts during his eight-game hitting streak. He's also homered in two of his last three contests, supplying four RBI in that span. The shortstop is batting .292 on the year and has added a .738 OPS, six homers, 30 RBI, 29 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases over 60 games.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Launches grand slam Monday

Pena went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Monday's 8-5 win over the Marlins.

Pena's lone hit was a big one, as he uncorked a grand slam off Janson Junk as part of a six-run second inning. It was encouraging to see the shortstop back in the lineup Monday after he exited Saturday's game early and sat out Sunday's contest due to a right hamstring cramp. Multiple injuries have forced Pena to miss time this season, but he has been productive when available, slashing .294/.357/.441 with seven homers, 26 RBI, 38 runs and eight stolen bases across 54 contests.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Diagnosed with bruised shin

Montgomery left Monday's game against the Rangers due to a right shin contusion, LaMond Pope of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Montgomery suffered the injury in the top of the seventh inning and was forced to exit the game after finishing his at-bat. It appears as though he's managed to avoid a significant injury, and he'll presumably be re-evaluated Tuesday morning to determine his availability for the second game of the series.

  • White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Removed from Monday's game

Montgomery left Monday's game against the Rangers after fouling a ball off his right leg, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.

Montgomery fouled a ball off his leg in the top of the seventh inning, and while he was able to finish out the at-bat, he was lifted in the bottom half of the frame. He can be considered day-to-day until the White Sox have more information on the severity of the injury.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Still nursing back issue

Witt left Monday's game against the Giants due to low back tightness, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

This report confirms that Witt is still dealing with the same back tightness that kept him out of Sunday's matchup. The club will presumably re-evaluate Witt in the morning to determine his availability moving forward.

  • Bobby Witt SS | KC

Royals' Bobby Witt: Lifted early Monday

Witt (undisclosed) was removed from Monday's game against the Giants in the fifth inning, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Witt was listed in the starting nine Monday after sitting out Sunday due to back tightness, though it's unclear if the back issue is what prompted his removal from the series opener. Nick Loftin was deployed at shortstop to take over for Witt. The star shortstop can be considered day-to-day until the Royals have more information to share on his availability going forward.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Scratched from Monday's lineup

Crawford (undisclosed) was scratched from Monday's lineup against the Reds, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Colt Emerson was initially scheduled for an off-day, but he will now start at shortstop for the Mariners and bat ninth. It's unclear why Crawford was removed from the lineup, but Seattle could provide an update on the veteran shortstop before or during Monday's game.

  • Nick Allen 2B | HOU

Astros' Nick Allen: Back in reserve role

Allen is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Marlins.

Though he received the start at shortstop in Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Orioles, Allen will be back on the bench for the series opener against the Marlins while Jeremy Pena (hamstring) checks back into the starting nine. Allen had a brief run as the Astros' primary shortstop when he returned from the injured list June 29, but Pena has taken back control of the position since being reinstated July 10 following an IL stint of his own.
