  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Homers again in win

Neto went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 9-5 win over the Royals.

Neto's impressive August continued with his sixth homer in 17 contests this month. He's also batting .299 (20-for-67) with 16 RBI and 11 runs scored in that span. The shortstop is up to a .262/.327/.466 slash line with 19 homers, 63 RBI, 57 runs scored, 22 stolen bases and 27 doubles across 122 games this season. While the Angels' lineup isn't anything special, Neto should continue to provide well-rounded production out of the No. 2 spot in the order as he has since Luis Rengifo (wrist) exited the lineup Aug. 3.

  • Rays' Jose Caballero: Not starting Tuesday

Caballero is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Athletics, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Caballero has a .209/.265/.372 slash line through 15 games in August and will sit for Tuesday's contest. Taylor Walls will receive the start at shortstop versus Oakland righty Joey Estes.

  • Max Schuemann 2B | OAK

Athletics' Max Schuemann: Sitting down Tuesday

Schuemann isn't in the Athletics' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays.

Schuemann will get a chance to regroup Tuesday after going just 1-for-21 with seven walks over his last eight games. His absence will move Darell Hernaiz to shortstop and allow Abraham Toro to pick up a start at third base while batting seventh.

  • Trey Sweeney SS | DET

Tigers' Trey Sweeney: Not starting Tuesday

Sweeney isn't in the Tigers' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cubs, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Sweeney will get a chance to regroup after going 1-for-7 with four strikeouts across his first two career big-league games. Javier Baez will get the starting nod at shortstop instead and bat ninth.

  • Blue Jays' Leo Jimenez: Back in lineup

Jimenez is batting eighth and playing shortstop Tuesday against the Reds.

Jimenez missed back-to-back games with a knee injury, but he'll be back in action Tuesday night. In August, Jimenez is slashing .216/.318/.514 with two homers and five doubles across 13 games.

  • Zachary Neto SS | LAA

Angels' Zach Neto: Hits homer in loss

Neto went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's loss to the Royals.

Neto brought the Angels to within two runs with his eighth-inning solo blast, but that was the final score tallied by either team. The shortstop went on a seven-game heater earlier in the month during which he batted .448 with four homers and 14 RBI, but he's cooled off since then with a .179 average and one homer along with 12 strikeouts over his subsequent seven contests. Overall, Neto is slashing .261/.325/.459 with 18 long balls, 62 RBI, 55 runs and 22 stolen bases over 121 contests on the campaign.

  • Jacob Wilson SS | OAK

Athletics' Jacob Wilson: Next rehab steps outlined

Wilson (hamstring) is scheduled to play seven innings in a rehab game with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Wilson was able to play on consecutive days for Las Vegas over the weekend, and he's now set to suit up for the Triple-A club Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Athletics plan to have him alternate starts at designated hitter and shortstop over his next three appearances. While manager Mark Kotsay still doesn't have a timetable on Wilson's potential activation from the injured list, the skipper confirmed that the rookie wouldn't be a candidate to return until at least next week.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Goes yard twice in win

Seager went 2-for-3 with two homers, four RBI and a walk in Monday's 4-3 win over the Pirates.

The All-Star shortstop opened the game's scoring with a titanic 449-foot solo shot off Luis Ortiz in the first inning. Seager wasn't finished, returning in the third to smash a 400-foot, three-run homer off Ortiz again, accounting for all the Texas runs in the contest. The 30-year-old has found his power swing since the All-Star break, slamming nine homers while hitting .283 (32-for-113) with 20 RBI, and 18 runs scored across 29 games.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Could take cuts soon

The Mariners are hopeful Crawford will be cleared to resume taking swings later in the week, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Crawford has been ramping up his baseball activities over the last few weeks, as he got the green light to participate in infield work Aug. 3 and began a throwing program Aug. 12. If the 29-year-old can progress to swinging a bat at some point this week, his next hurdle would likely be taking batting practice.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Red Sox's Trevor Story: Continuing to ramp up

Story (shoulder) is continuing to make progress in his rehab, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

While Cotillo fails to provide much substance on the progress of Story's rehab, it's positive news that the veteran shortstop hasn't suffered any setbacks to this point. It remains a mystery as to whether the 31-year-old will be cleared for action down the stretch of the 2024 season, though he'd likely need to see reps against live pitching soon to have a chance at a return this year.
