Kyren Paris SS | LAA
Angels' Kyren Paris: Undergoes thumb surgery
Paris underwent surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, MLB.com reports.
Paris suffered the injury Sept. 16, and his season officially ended a couple days after that when he was placed on the 60-day injured list. He'll be rehabbing at the beginning of the offseason but is expected to be 100 percent for spring training.

Tim Anderson 2B | LAA
White Sox's Tim Anderson: On bench Wednesday
Anderson is not in the lineup Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks.
Anderson is in the midst of a slump, having gone 1-for-12 in his last three games. The shortstop did not play Sunday after going 0-for-8 over the prior two games. Elvis Andrus will shift to shortstop while Zach Remillard receives a start at second base.

Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Three-hit effort in loss
Pena went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Mariners.
All three of Pena's hits were singles. The shortstop had endured a sophomore slump for part of the campaign, but he's hitting .297 (27-for-91) in September. That's lifted his season batting average to .264 with a .707 OPS, 10 home runs, 13 stolen bases, 51 RBI and 81 runs scored over 146 contests. He's locked in for a starting role, though he still hits in the bottom third of the lineup regularly.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: X-rays negative
X-rays on Seager's right forearm came back negative after he got hit by a pitch during Tuesday's loss against the Angels, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Seager remained in the game after getting hit by a 93-mph Reid Detmers fastball, but he was eventually pulled in the sixth after the Angels took a 9-1 lead. The Rangers will check back in with Seager on Wednesday, and his availability will likely hinge on how sore his forearm feels at that point.

Josh H. Smith SS | TEX
Rangers' Josh Smith: Homers off bench Tuesday
Smith went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Angels.
Corey Seager (forearm) had to exit the game, so Smith filled in at shortstop and delivered a ninth-inning homer. The long ball was Smith's first since Sept. 4, though he's seen little playing time since Josh Jung returned from the injured list. With the Rangers still in the thick of the playoff race, Seager's potential absence looms large. Smith has hit an ugly .137 (10-for-73) since the start of August, so Ezequiel Duran, who has batted .248 in that same stretch, could be the better option to fill in at shortstop if Seager misses time.

Corey Seager SS | TEX
Rangers' Corey Seager: Exits with forearm bruise
Seager was removed from Tuesday's game against the Angels with a right forearm contusion, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Seager took a 93-mph fastball off his forearm during the fifth inning and initially stayed in the game, but he was later removed during the sixth. Given the Rangers were down by eight runs at the time of Seager's removal, it's possible the decision to pull him was simply precautionary, but the team will still take a closer look at him and monitor his condition as the postseason approaches.

Anthony Volpe SS | NYY
Yankees' Anthony Volpe: Out of Tuesday's lineup
Volpe is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game at Toronto.
Volpe started the past 11 games and will take a seat Tuesday after slashing .163/.217/.326 during that span. Oswald Peraza will shift to shortstop while Isiah Kiner-Falefa receives a start at third base.

Kevin Smith DH | NYY
Athletics' Kevin Smith: Sent to Triple-A
Smith was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Smith was called up from Las Vegas on Sept. 5 and played in 15 games during his three weeks with the big club, but he failed to take advantage of the playing time with a .544 OPS and 38.6 percent strikeout rate in 41 at-bats. The 27-year-old has a .185/.220/.326 slash line over 146 plate appearances in the majors this season and is now likely to close the campaign with those figures.

Keiner Delgado SS | PIT
Yankees' Keiner Delgado: More walks than K's in FCL
Delgado slashed .293/.414/.485 with eight home runs, 36 steals on 43 attempts and more walks (36) than strikeouts (31) across 49 games in the Florida Complex League.
Listed at 5-foot-7, 145 pounds, Delgado gets the most out of his physical abilities and gets high marks for his makeup. The 19-year-old switch hitter fits best long term at second base and is at least an above-average runner. Delgado was a year older than the typical high-end FCL prospect, but he is clearly very skilled and may not get significantly challenged until he gets to Double-A or Triple-A.

David Fletcher 2B | ATL
Angels' David Fletcher: Heads back to bench role
Fletcher is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Fletcher went 3-for-13 with a walk and an RBI while making starts out of the middle infield in each of the Angels' last four games, but he looks as though he'll move back into more of a utility role for the final week of the regular season. Zach Neto and Michael Stefanic will form the Halos' middle-infield tandem Monday, and the Angels will likely give both youngsters regular reps at shortstop and second base, respectively, the rest of the way.
