  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Diaz is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Dodgers.

Diaz is 2-for-16 over his past seven games and will take a seat for Wednesday's matchup with Los Angeles. Jordan Diaz will start at the hot corner and bat sixth for the A's.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Rangers' Corey Seager: Activated from injured list

Seager (thumb) was activated from the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Seager will skip a minor-league rehab assignment and jump right back into the Rangers' starting lineup Wednesday night against the White Sox after what was close to a minimum IL stint for a sprained right thumb. When healthy this season, the 29-year-old shortstop has posted a robust .350/.413/.631 batting line with 15 home runs, 29 doubles and 58 RBI across 66 games.

  • Ezequiel Duran SS | TEX

Rangers' Ezequiel Duran: Gets breather Wednesday

Duran is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the White Sox.

Duran takes a seat after going 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Tuesday night against Chicago. Travis Jankowski, Leody Taveras and Adolis Garcia will start across the outfield for the Rangers on Wednesday, with Mitch Garver filling the designated hitter role. Sam Huff is catching.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Blue Jays' Paul DeJong: Batting eighth in team debut

DeJong is starting at shortstop and batting eighth in his Blue Jays debut Wednesday versus the Orioles.

Acquired from the Cardinals ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, DeJong should get something close to everyday starts at short for the Jays while Bo Bichette recovers from a bout of patellar tendinitis in his right knee. DeJong, 30, was slashing .233/.297/.412 with 13 home runs and four stolen bases through 81 games this season for St. Louis.

  • Bo Bichette 3B | NYM

Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Lands on IL with knee tendinitis

Bichette was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with right patellar tendinitis, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Bichette tweaked his knee in Monday's series opener against the Orioles and needs an extended break for rest and treatment. Blue Jays manager John Schneider declined Wednesday to put a timetable on the star shortstop's return, telling Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic that "we got to see how he does." Tuesday's trade deadline acquisition of Paul DeJong from the Cardinals has suddenly proven a lot more important for Toronto.

  • Brayan Rocchio SS | CLE

Guardians' Brayan Rocchio: Recalled from Columbus

Cleveland recalled Rocchio from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

The 22-year-old will jump right into the Guardians' starting lineup at third base Wednesday versus the Astros as Jose Ramirez serves as Cleveland's designated hitter. Rocchio is 3-for-14 with no extra-base hits so far at the major-league level, but he's registered a solid .291/.383/.417 batting line with three homers and 19 steals across 89 games this season in Triple-A. The Guardians have been leaning on Gabriel Arias as their primary option at shortstop since trading Amed Rosario to the Dodgers last week, but Rocchio could end up getting a look at that position while he's up with the big club.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Piling up multi-hit games

Pena went 2-for-2 with two walks and a run scored Tuesday against the Guardians.

Pena tallied his fourth multi-hit performance in his last six starts, and he's also worked four free passes in that span. He had a dreadful July during which he hit just .205, but he appears to be coming out of the prolonged slump. Pena still has only a .679 OPS on the season, primarily because he has a disappointing 10 home runs across 409 plate appearances.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Swipes 25th bag

Mateo went 1-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 13-3 win over the Blue Jays.

Making his second straight start after riding the bench for a few games, Mateo snagged his 25th steal of the season while reaching base multiple times for the first time since June 25. It's been a rough summer for the 28-year-old, who has seen his OPS collapse to .601 after he exited April with a 1.062 mark, but his defense has kept him in the mix for playing time at shortstop while his speed has allowed him to maintain some deep-league fantasy appeal.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Nabs 11th steal

Anderson went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 2-0 loss to Texas.

Anderson is finally showing signs of life after a sluggish first half. The 30-year-old shortstop is slashing .338/.394/.415 in 16 games since the All-Star break, with eight multi-hit efforts and two steals during that stretch.

  • Eddys Leonard SS | MIL

Tigers' Eddys Leonard: Sent to Detroit

The Tigers acquired Leonard from the Dodgers on Tuesday in exchange for cash.

Leonard was designated for assignment by Los Angeles last week and will now make his way to Detroit's 40-man roster. The 22-year-old has a .257/.330/.423 slash line with 12 home runs in 92 games at the Double-A level this season. He's expected to report to Triple-A Toledo with his new organization.
