Tim Anderson 2B | LAA
White Sox's Tim Anderson: Leaves early with knee soreness
Anderson was removed from Monday's game against the Twins due to left knee soreness in the sixth inning after suffering the injury while playing the field in the bottom of the fourth, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout prior to his departure.
Anderson sustained the knee injury when he was clipped by a baserunner while he attempted to corral an errant throw during a rundown play. Though he was able to get up on his own, walk off the injury and stay in the game for the final out of the fourth and the entire fifth inning, Anderson remained on the bench when the White Sox returned to the field for the bottom of the sixth. Expect the White Sox to provide an update on Anderson's condition later Monday once he's further evaluated, but for now, he can be viewed as day-to-day heading into Tuesday's contest.

Kevin Smith DH | NYY
Athletics' Kevin Smith: Gets promotion
The Athletics recalled Smith from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday.
Smith joins the 26-man active roster as a replacement for outfielder/first baseman Seth Brown (oblique), who was placed on the 10-day injured list. While he's up with Oakland, the righty-hitting Smith could fill the short side of a platoon at third base with the lefty-hitting Jace Peterson.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Twins' Carlos Correa: Out again with back spasm
Correa was scratched from the lineup for Monday's game against the White Sox with what he described as a middle back spasm, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Correa was initially included in the lineup for Monday's series opener, after sitting out Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Astros in what was initially believed to be a maintenance day. However, he'll ultimately be on the bench for a second day in a row as the Twins give Correa more time to recuperate from the injury that cropped up during a play at the plate in Saturday's 9-6 win over Houston. Kyle Farmer will handle shortstop Monday, but Correa is hopeful that he'll be back in action as soon as Tuesday.

Wander Franco SS | TB
Rays' Wander Franco: Another homer
Franco went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Athletics.
Franco took James Kaprielian yard in the first inning to tally his fourth home run of the season and third in his last four games. He's also tallied at least one hit in eight of his nine starts this season, which has resulted in a .482 wOBA. While that mark is unsustainable, Franco is showing results that match his pedigree as a former top overall prospect.

Athletics' Kevin Smith: Call-up coming Monday
Smith will be recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Smith is going to replace Seth Brown on the roster, with Brown heading to the injured list due to a left oblique injury. Smith came up short on his bid to make the Opening Day roster, but he'll get a chance to be a bench option for the Athletics while Brown recovers.

Wenceel Perez SS | DET
Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Rehabbing at Single-A
Perez (back) began a rehab assignment at Single-A Lakeland on Friday and has gone 3-for-8 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI through his first two games.
Perez opened the season on Triple-A Toledo's 7-day injured list while working his way back from back inflammation, but he looks like he could be on track to join the Tigers' top affiliate at some point during the upcoming week.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Twins' Carlos Correa: Getting Sunday off
Correa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.
Kyle Farmer will draw the starting nod at shortstop while Correa sits out for the first time this season in what appears to be a maintenance day. Through his first eight starts, Correa is hitting just .182 with no home runs or stolen bases and only two runs and two RBI.

Jorge Mateo SS | ATL
Orioles' Jorge Mateo: Draws back in Sunday
Mateo (ankle) will start at shortstop and bat seventh in Sunday's game against the Yankees, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Mateo will check back into the starting nine after a sore ankle kept him from playing in Saturday's 4-1 loss. Though he's now been on the bench for two of the Orioles' first eight games, Mateo still ranks tied for second in the majors with five stolen bases.

Bo Bichette 3B | NYM
Blue Jays' Bo Bichette: Posts another big game at plate
Bichette went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's loss to the Angels.
Bichette gave Toronto an early lead with his two-run homer to center field in the third inning, one of three hits he produced in the contest. The talented shortstop has gone deep in each of his past two games and has racked up multiple hits in three straight contests. He's been one of the league's top hitters early on with a .381/.409/.643 slash line, three homers and eight RBI through nine games.

Jeremy Pena SS | HOU
Astros' Jeremy Pena: Smacks second homer
Pena went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run Saturday against the Twins.
Pena hit from atop the order in each of Houston's first eight games, but he was dropped to sixth in the order Saturday. His performance was a mixed bag, as he struck out three times prior to going yard for a two-run shot in the ninth inning. Pena now has a pair of homers on the season, though he has just a .179/.256/.385 line across 43 plate appearances.
