  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: Lands on IL with groin injury

Mondesi (groin) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

He left Tuesday's game with right groin tightness and will get at least 10 days to rest up. Nicky Lopez will likely move to shortstop while Whit Merrifield moves to second base, at least against right-handed pitching (Merrifield may start at first base against southpaws). Infielder Humberto Arteaga's contract was selected from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: Crosses plate twice in win

Crawford went 1-for-4 with an RBI single, a walk and two runs in a win over the Royals on Wednesday.

Crawford set the table effectively for both Domingo Santana and Daniel Vogelbach, who drove in seven of the eight runs on the night for the Mariners. The young shortstop has been relatively quiet since generating a multi-hit effort in his first game back from an ankle injury last Friday, but he has managed to reach safely in each of his first six games since returning.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

White Sox's Tim Anderson: Caught stealing in loss

Anderson went 1-for-5 with a double and was caught stealing in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Cubs.

Anderson has a modest six-game hitting streak, going 8-for-27 (.296) with three extra-base hits. The stolen-base attempt was his first try in 13 games, and he hasn't had a successful attempt since June 2. He's sitting on 15 steals and should achieve a second straight season with at least 20 thefts.

  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: Still dealing with tightness

Manager Ned Yost said Mondesi (groin) feels the same Wednesday as he did Tuesday, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Mondesi exited Tuesday's game against the Mariners due to right groin tightness. While his removal was deemed precautionary, it sounds like the issue is still bothering the shortstop. He didn't do any work on the field prior to Wednesday's game, suggesting he may not be available off the bench for the series finale. How Mondesi feels in the coming days will likely determine whether a trip to the injured list is necessary.

  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: Sits with groin injury

Mondesi (groin) is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Joel Goldberg of FOX Sports Kansas City reports.

Mondesi left Tuesday's game with groin tightness. His exit was considered precautionary, but he'll sit for at least one game. It's not clear if he'll be available off the bench. Nicky Lopez slides to shortstop in his absence.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Sitting versus lefty

Wendle is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Josh Tolentino of The Athletic reports.

Wendle has managed only one hit in 17 at-bats in his first five games back from the 10-day injured list, but he should continue to benefit from at least semi-regular action after the Rays moved corner infielder Yandy Diaz (hamstring) to the IL on Wednesday. The Rays may continue to confine the lefty-swinging Wendle to the bench versus southpaws, however, as will be the case in the series finale with CC Sabathia on the hill for New York.

  • Royals' Adalberto Mondesi: Leaves Tuesday's game

Mondesi was removed from Tuesday's game at Seattle with right groin tightness, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Mondesi is considered day-to-day and the Royals labeled his exit precautionary. The 23-year-old went 1-for-3 with a run scored and recorded his 27th stolen base before leaving the game. Kansas City will wrap up its series in Seattle on Wednesday.

  • Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA

Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Hits IL with abdominal issues

Adrianza was placed on the injured list Tuesday with abdominal issues.

The utility man will be out at least until June 27 with this vague injury. Luis Arraez was recalled from Triple-A to take his spot on the roster.

  • Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Leads AL in doubles

Bogaerts went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's 2-0 win over the Twins.

Bogaerts' ninth-inning double delivered the insurance run in the win. It was his AL-leading 22nd double, while the RBI was his team-leading 48th in 71 games.

  • Joey Wendle 2B | ATL

Rays' Joey Wendle: Struggling since return

Wendle, who went 0-for-3 in a loss to the Yankees on Monday, is 1-for-16 overall since returning from a stint on the injured list due to a wrist injury.

Wendle missed all but four games between April 1 and June 13 with hamstring and wrist issues, and he clearly is struggling to regain his timing against big-league arms. The versatile infielder is slashing an abysmal .111/.179/.139 over a modest 39 plate-appearance sample this season, but given his .300/.354/.435 line across 139 games in 2018, Wendle clearly has the ability to snap out of his current doldrums.
