Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Moves to third in order
Bogaerts went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in Wednesday's 3-0 extra-inning win over Pittsburgh.
Bogaerts was moved up in the order -- from sixth to third -- taking the place of Mookie Betts (flu). Manager John Farrell's Opening Day batting order, with Bogaerts hitting sixth behind Mitch Moreland, generated quite a bit of discussion. But that's how the manager intends to play it early in the season. When Betts returns, you can expect Bogaerts back down the order. If Moreland, 0-for-9 with five strikeouts through two games, continues to be a non-entity in the middle of the order, Farrell will have to make an adjustment.

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Indians' Francisco Lindor: Unloads on Rangers with two homers, five RBI
Lindor went 3-for-4 with two homers, a walk, a steal, five RBI and three runs in Wednesday's come-from-behind win over Texas.
Quiet in the first two games of this season-opening series (0-for-6, albeit with a couple walks), Lindor was awfully loud in this one, with his ninth-inning grand slam ultimately turning the tide. Always credited more for his arm than his bat as he came through the minor leagues, Lindor's exploded onto the scene over his first two years, providing a tantalizing combination of batting average, power and speed. He's still just 23 years old, which means we haven't even seen his best work yet; this could be the year that sees his homer and steal totals spike into the range of true stardom.

Indians' Francisco Lindor: Strands four more runners
Lindor went 0-for-3 with a walk and struck out once while stranding four baserunners in Tuesday's matchup against the Rangers.
It was another day of missed opportunities for Lindor. He's now left nine runners on base in just six at-bats while going hitless through the first two games. The youngster hit second in the order for 87 percent of his at-bats in 2015 (his rookie season), but slotted in the two-hole for only one game last year. It's too early to assume Lindor will need an adjustment period to handle his new spot in the order, but if things don't improve, it's certainly possible that manager Terry Francona will shuffle the lineup to help his shortstop get rolling.

Indians' Francisco Lindor: Can't capitalize on Opening Day chances
Lindor went 0-for-3 and left five runners on base, but he did manage to draw a walk and notch an RBI in Monday's Opening Day win over the Rangers.
Only two MLB players left more runners stranded than Lindor did on Opening Day. Most disappointing about the situation is that four of the five he left on base were in scoring position. The shortstop could have had a huge day, but Lindor hit into two double plays, including one in the fifth inning with the bases loaded. Although the opener didn't treat him well, the 23-year-old will surely bounce back as he's one of the greatest offensive threats in the game at his position.

Carlos Correa SS | HOU
Astros' Carlos Correa: Goes deep in season-opening victory
Correa went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two RBI in Monday's 3-0 Opening Day win over the Mariners.
Correa has provided decent speed and power from the shortstop position in his first two seasons, but at age 22, fantasy owners are expecting much more. He's right there with Corey Seager of the Dodgers in terms of most exciting and talented young shortstops in the game.

Xander Bogaerts SS | SD
Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Swipes two bags in season opener
Bogaerts went 2-for-4 and stole two bases in Monday's 5-3 win over Pittsburgh on Opening Day.
Manager John Farrell likes to avoid an extended run of same-sided hitters, so he moved Bogaerts down to sixth after spending 155 games in 2016 as the second- or third-spot hitter. Hitting lower in the order could result in the shortstop being freer to attempt stolen bases; he said back in February that he wanted to do that more of in 2017.

Red Sox's Xander Bogaerts: Hitting sixth in season opener
Bogaerts will start at shortstop and bat sixth in the order during Monday's season opener against the Pirates, Rob Bradford of WEEI.com reports.
Bogaerts batted sixth in the Red Sox lineup on just two occasions last season, but it looks like the addition of the lefty-hitting Mitch Moreland and the installment of top prospect Andrew Benintendi into the lineup on a full-time basis may push the shortstop down the order against right-handed pitching. While Bogaerts' placement may not make him an attractive entity in DFS contests Monday at his usual price, those who own him in season-long leagues should obviously keep him active, as he remains capable of offering helpful production across the board.

Joey Wendle 2B | ATL
Athletics' Joey Wendle: Officially placed on DL
Wendle (shoulder) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Saturday.
It was already reported that Wendle was expected to begin the year in extended spring training, so the move was simply procedural. The 26-year-old will likely report to Triple-A Nashville upon his return, though his timetable for return remains cloudy.

Shawn O'Malley SS | COL
Mariners' Shawn O'Malley: Lands on 10-day disabled list
O'Malley (appendectomy) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday.
The versatile O'Malley underwent the procedure on March 22 and his initial timetable to return was two weeks. However, the Mariners had to trim their roster down Friday with Opening Day approaching, so they will have O'Malley start the year on the DL. Taylor Motter will likely serve as the Mariners' backup shortstop while O'Malley is sidelined.

Ehire Adrianza 3B | LAA
Twins' Ehire Adrianza: Placed on 10-day DL
Adrianza (oblique) was placed on the 10-day DL.
Adrianza will be eligible to return on April 9. Adrianza has yet to resume baseball activities after straining his right oblique Saturday, so he could be out longer. He was set to win a utility role after a strong spring training with the glove and at the plate.
