Abrams was scratched from the Nationals' lineup prior to Saturday's game against the Guardians.

Abrams said that he jammed his shoulder while making a diving play during Friday's loss, per Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com, and it seems to be bothering him enough Saturday to warrant a day off. While Abrams recovers, Ildemaro Vargas will take over at shortstop and bat eighth.

Cruz isn't in the Pirates' lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

With lefty Yusei Kikuchi starting for Toronto, the left-handed bat of Cruz will step out of the lineup Saturday. Nick Gonzales will slide over to play shortstop while Jared Triolo covers the keystone.

De La Cruz went 0-for-4 with a stolen base in Fridays 5-4 win over the Cubs.

De La Cruz's MLB-leading 32nd steal had no impact on the game, but the shortstop's cannon arm did. His 93.3 mph relay gunned down the potential tying run in the bottom of the ninth inning to preserve Cincinnati's win.

Tovar went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 4-1 win over the Dodgers.

Tovar was the only Rockie with multiple hits in the contest. This was his 10th multi-hit effort over his last 16 games, a span in which he's batting .356 (26-for-73) with four homers, nine RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base. The shortstop is up to a .294/.328/.481 slash line with eight homers, 24 RBI, 30 runs scored, four steals, 17 doubles and a triple over 55 contests this season. He still hits far better at home (.862 OPS), but he's been passable on the road this season as well with a .757 OPS away from Coors Field.

Crawford went 2-for-2 with a solo home run in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Phillies.

Crawford hadn't played since May 19, but he got the start at shortstop to give Masyn Winn a breather Friday. The homer was Crawford's first extra-base hit of the campaign, though he's logged just 37 plate appearances over 12 contests through the end of May. The 37-year-old shortstop is firmly in a bench role without enough playing time to make an impact in most fantasy formats.

Ahmed (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Ahmed landed on the injured list after spraining his left wrist against Atlanta on May 9. Prior to the injury, he was slashing .236/.274/.291 with 11 RBI. It's unclear how many rehab outings Ahmed will need, but the Giants may not wait long to activate him after Marco Luciano was placed on the 10-day IL on Friday due to a right hamstring strain.

The Giants recalled Schmitt from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.

The move corresponds with Marco Luciano being placed on the injured list due to a right hamstring strain. Since being optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on May 17, Schmitt has gone 14-for-44 with 12 runs, four home runs and 12 RBI. With both Luciano and Nick Ahmed (wrist) on the IL, Schmitt will likely form a platoon at shortstop with the lefty-hitting Brett Wisely.

The Giants placed Luciano on the 10-day injured list Friday with a right hamstring strain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Luciano made an early exit from Wednesday's game against the Phillies because of hamstring problems, and he will now officially be sidelined until at least June 10. Casey Schmitt was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move and will presumably work in the short side of a platoon with Brett Wisely while Luciano is out.

Iglesias is batting eighth and playing second base Friday against the Diamondbacks.

After spending the last year and change in the minor leagues, Iglesias got called up from Triple-A Syracuse and will give Jeff McNeil a breather Friday. Iglesias figures to operate as a reserve infielder with the Mets and is capable of playing second, shortstop and third base.

Crawford will start at shortstop and bat eighth in Friday's game versus the Phillies.

The veteran shortstop is receiving a rare start as Masyn Winn gets a day off. Crawford is a woeful 3-for-31 (all singles) at the plate for St. Louis this season. This will be the first time he's played in nearly two weeks.
