Jose Barrero SS | BAL
Reds' Jose Barrero: Starting rehab stint
Barrero (hand) is reporting to Triple-A Louisville to begin a rehab assignment Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Barrero has been on the injured list all season after undergoing surgery on his hand in March, but he's now in the final stages of his rehab program. The 24-year-old figures to require an extended run with Louisville to get up to speed before being activated from the injured list.

Francisco Lindor SS | NYM
Mets' Francisco Lindor: Crosses plate three times in win
Lindor went 2-for-3 with two walks, three runs scored and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Cardinals.
The shortstop was a constant presence on the basepaths for the Mets, but Lindor's most important run came after he made the final out of the ninth inning, as he started the 10th as the phantom runner and came home on Pete Alonso's walkoff blast. Lindor has reached base in 12 of the last 13 games, and while he's batting only .234 (11-for-47) over that stretch, he's supplemented it with nine walks for a .356 OBP to go with two homers, two steals, seven RBI and 11 runs.

Tommy Edman 2B | LAD
Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Shifting to shortstop
Edman will primarily play shortstop moving forward with prospect Nolan Gorman being promoted Friday to play second base, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
Edman has started at the keystone in 35 of 37 games this season, but he'll now shift to shortstop with Gorman being promoted in the wake of Paul DeJong's demotion last week. Edman struggled the past two years but has a .269/.367/.431 in 2022 and has reclaimed the leadoff role, and the positional move will give him a minor boost in fantasy once he reaches the eligibility threshold.

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Starting Thursday
Edman is back in the starting lineup Thursday, playing second base and batting leadoff versus the Mets.
Edman missed Wednesday's loss to the Mets while dealing with calf soreness, but he'll be ready to go for Thursday's series finale. After batting .300 with five multi-hit games in April, the 27-year-old has produced a .233 average in May and hasn't had a multi-hit effort since May 5.

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Dealing with calf soreness
Edman isn't in Wednesday's lineup against the Mets due to calf soreness, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.
Edman was hit by a pitch in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader, and Brendan Donovan will take his place at the keystone a day later. However, Edman will be available off the bench, so it doesn't appear as though his injury is a significant concern.

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Riding pine Wednesday
Edman isn't starting Wednesday against the Mets, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Edman is currently riding a four-game hit streak in which he's gone 4-for-16 with a homer, a triple, four runs, two RBI and a stolen base, but he'll be out of the lineup for the first time since May 2. Brendan Donovan will shift to second base while Edmundo Sosa starts at shortstop.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Nationals' Dee Strange-Gordon: Remains out of lineup
Strange-Gordon isn't starting Wednesday against Miami.
Even with right-hander Pablo Lopez on the mound for the Marlins, Strange-Gordon will be out of the lineup for the fourth time in the last six games. Alcides Escobar will start at shortstop and bat ninth.

Elly De La Cruz SS | CIN
Reds' Elly De La Cruz: Turning it on in High-A
De La Cruz has homered in each of his last two games and has a .319/.396/.596 over his last 12 contests for High-A Dayton.
Since getting off to a fairly quiet start, De La Cruz has turned on the jets and now owns a .276/.333/.533 line with six homers and nine steals across 27 games this season. The 20-year-old's strikeout rate is still too high at 30.7 percent, but he's trimmed it noticeably over the course of his aforementioned hot streak (24.5 percent). It'll be interesting to see how he deals with the higher-level pitching at Double-A once he earns a promotion, which could realistically happen in the next couple months.

Jon Berti 3B | CHC
Marlins' Jon Berti: Ends quarantine
Berti (illness) rejoined the Marlins on Tuesday but has yet to be activated from the COVID-19-related injured list, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Berti was away from the team for approximately a week and a half before reporting to LoanDepot Park after he completed his quarantine. Because of the time he missed, Berti will likely need to turn in a few workouts over the next couple days before potentially heading out on a minor-league rehab assignment this weekend. If all goes well, Berti could make his return from the IL early next week. Upon his activation, Berti will likely fill a utility role for Miami.

Brandon Crawford SS | STL
Giants' Brandon Crawford: Rips three hits including triple
Crawford went 3-for-5 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 10-7 win over the Rockies.
Crawford scored the Giants' second run as a Little League home run, hitting a triple and then heading home after Brendan Rodgers' relay throw to third base ended up in the dugout. That hit snapped Crawford's 0-for-10 skid at the plate over his three previous games. The shortstop also had an RBI single in the sixth inning. He's hitting .220/.309/.350 with three home runs, 15 RBI, 19 runs scored and a stolen base across 139 plate appearances. That general slump compared to 2021 has seen Crawford drop to the bottom half of the order after starting the season most often hitting third or fourth.
