  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Plays hero in return

Rojas went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer in Friday's win over the Nationals.

In his first at-bat after coming off the COVID-19 injured list, Rojas took Patrick Corbin yard to account for all of the Marlins' runs in a 3-2 victory. The shortstop has had an incredible start to the season despite his long absence from the lineup, going 9-for-14 (.643) with two homers, a steal, five runs and eight RBI.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Nationals' Trea Turner: Swats fifth homer

Turner went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Marlins.

The shortstop took Elieser Hernandez deep in the third inning to bring the Nats to within a run of the Marlins, but neither team scored again. Turner is slashing .289/.350/.522 with five homers, 10 RBI and 15 runs, but his one steal in four attempts remains disappointing.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Plates Colorado's lone run

Story went 1-for-4 with an RBI in Friday's loss to the Dodgers.

Story produced his 16th RBI of the season with a single to right field that scored Drew Butera in the top of the sixth inning, and that was the biggest highlight for a Colorado offense that went 4-for-31 as a team against the Dodgers' pitching staff. Story, who rode a nine-game hitting streak earlier this month, is hitting .274 with a .834 OPS in 84 August at-bats.

  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Expected back Monday

The tentative plan is for DeJong (not injury related) to rejoin the Cardinals on Monday, Mark Saxon of The Athletic reports.

DeJong will spend the weekend working out at the team's alternate camp site before hopefully rejoining the Cardinals ahead of Monday's series opener against the Royals. The shortstop has been sidelined all month following a positive COVID-19 test, leaving Tommy Edman to handle primary shortstop duties.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: On bench Thursday

Seager is not starting Thursday against the Mariners.

Seager has started the past seven games, going 7-for-31 with three home runs, 10 RBI and a 2:5 BB:K over that stretch. Chris Taylor is covering shortstop in his stead, with Enrique Hernandez entering the lineup at second base.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Activated from IL

Rojas (not injury related) was activated from the injured list Thursday.

As expected, Rojas has been cleared to rejoin the Marlins after missing more than three weeks due to a positive COVID-19 test. Prior to landing on the IL, Rojas appeared in three games and went 7-for-10 with a home run, five RBI and a stolen base. He should immediately reclaim everyday shortstop duties for Miami.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Expected back Thursday

Rojas (not injury related) is expected to rejoin the Marlins on Thursday, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.

Rojas, who played in just three games before landing on the IL due to a positive COVID-19 test, is ready to return after spending the past week getting up to speed at Miami's alternate camp site. It remains to be seen whether he will immediately rejoin the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the Mets, but either way Rojas should quickly settle back in as the team's everyday shortstop.

  • Chris Owings SS | LAD

Rockies' Chris Owings: To IL with hamstring injury

Owings was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a strained hamstring, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

He exited a game last week with left hamstring tightness, and has since appeared in several games, but it sounds like he made the injury worse, despite going 2-for-4 in Wednesday's game. Brendan Rodgers was recalled and will start at second base Thursday against the Astros.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Racks up two hits

Ahmed went 2-for-4 in Wednesday's loss against the Athletics.

The Diamondbacks went 6-for-30 as a team against Oakland's pitching, and Ahmed was one of two players who recorded multiple hits -- Ketel Marte was the other one. Ahmed endured a tough start to the season but has bounced back of late, hitting safely in all but one of Arizona's last 10 games, posting three consecutive multi-hit games and slashing .500/.550/.778 with two homers and 14 RBI during that 10-game stretch.

  • Chris Owings SS | LAD

Rockies' Chris Owings: Joins Wednesday's lineup

Owings (hamstring) is starting at second base and batting seventh Wednesday versus Houston.

Owings appeared off the bench the past two games after missing almost a week with a left hamstring issue, but he didn't end up requiring a trip to the injured list. The 29-year-old has a .243/.300/.432 slash line with two homers through 40 plate appearances this season.
