Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases in Saturday's 4-1 loss to the Mariners.

He rapped out three singles and added two steals Saturday in an attempt to spark the Padres' offense, but it didn't amount to a comeback. The shortstop is up to eight steals this season without getting caught. His career high is 19 thefts in 2023, a number he's on pace to easily surpass if he stays active on the basepaths. Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Remains out Saturday

Edwards (back) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rays.

Edwards was scratched from the lineup ahead of Friday's contest due to back tightness and will take another day off to recover. Manager Clayton McCullough said Saturday that imaging on Edwards' back came back negative, per Craig Mish of the Miami Herald, so the team will have him do some baseball activities to see where he's at. In the meantime, Javier Sanoja will draw another start at shortstop as Ronny Simon mans second base.

  • Nasim Nunez SS | WAS

Nationals' Nasim Nunez: Shines in rare start

Nunez went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored, an RBI and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Orioles.

Starting at second base and batting ninth, Nunez made a diving catch on a Gunnar Henderson line drive for the first out in the bottom of the first inning, and he continued to make an impact the rest of the night, both on offense and on defense. The switch-hitting utility player had just one plate appearance in May coming into Friday, but with Amed Rosario (leg) banged up and Paul DeJong (face) still more than a month away from his expected return, Nunez could find his way into the lineup more often in the short term.

Perdomo went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, three RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Friday's 8-0 win over the Rockies.

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Reinstated from injured list

The Rockies reinstated Tovar (hip) from the injured list Friday.

The 23-year-old went 4-for-18 with an RBI and a run scored in five rehab games at Triple-A Albuquerque and is expected to reclaim his role as Colorado's primary shortstop.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Edwards has started all 42 games for the Marlins so far this season, but he'll be forced to the bench Friday due to the back issue. The 25-year-old should be considered day-to-day while Javier Sanoja steps in at shortstop for Miami.

  • Mookie Betts RF | LAD

Dodgers' Mookie Betts: Reaches three times in blowout

Betts went 1-for-1 with two walks, three runs and an RBI in Thursday's 19-2 romp over the Athletics.

All of Betts' plate appearances came in the first three innings, with his RBI coming on a single in the second. The Dodgers held a 13-2 lead at that point, so manager Dave Roberts elected to give Betts and a few other regulars some extra rest by pulling them from the contest.
