  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Leaves game with apparent injury

Seager was removed from Friday's game against the Giants with an undisclosed injury, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Seager had just resumed playing the field Wednesday after dealing with a quad injury, but he was forced out of Friday's contest in the top of the third inning. The nature and severity of the injury are unclear.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Sits against southpaw

Crawford will sit against lefty Julio Urias and the Dodgers on Friday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Crawford will sit for the second straight day as the Giants face a second straight lefty. He's started against just two of the six southpaws the Giants have faced thus far. Mauricio Dubon will start at shortstop in his absence.

  • Jon Berti 3B | CHC

Marlins' Jon Berti: Out of Friday's lineup

Berti is not in the lineup Friday against the Mets, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Berti started all four games since the Marlins resumed their season earlier this week and he went 3-for-14 with a double, three runs, an RBI and a stolen base. Eddy Alvarez will start at the keystone Friday for Miami.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Records fifth homer

Story went 2-for-4 with a solo home run Thursday against the Giants.

Story took Wandy Peralta deep in the sixth inning to record his fifth home run of the campaign. He had entered the game in the midst of a cold spell, collecting just one hit in his last 16 plate appearances. However, that's done little to undo his strong work at the dish, as he's hitting .295/.404/.636 in 52 plate plate appearances to this point.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Takes seat in series finale

Crawford is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies.

With the Giants and Rockies concluding their series with a day game after a night game and a southpaw (Kyle Freeland) on the mound for Colorado, the right-handed-hitting Donovan Solano will man shortstop in place of the lefty-hitting Crawford. The veteran had started in each of the Giants' first five games of August, going 3-for-16 with four runs scored.

  • Corey Seager SS | TEX

Dodgers' Corey Seager: Keeps streak alive

Seager went 1-for-4 in Wednesday's win over the Padres.

Seager has hit safely in all but one game this season, and he is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak with four multi-hit appearances during that stretch. The shortstop is slashing .364/.400/.697 with two doubles, three homers, five RBI and seven runs scored in 33 at-bats during that eight-game stretch.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Two-run blast in blowout win

Ahmed went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 14-7 win over the Astros.

Ahmed went deep in the fifth inning off Astros reliever Nivaldo Rodriguez. It's the first homer of the year for Ahmed, who is hitting just .105 with two RBI and two runs scored through 12 contests. He regularly bats ninth in the lineup and hasn't done enough to warrant fantasy attention in 2020.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Drives in two in win

Baez went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Wednesday's 6-1 win over the Royals.

Baez looked more like his normal self Wednesday after going 0-for-7 with four strikeouts in the first two games of the series against Kansas City. His .229 average and .728 OPS for the season are below his usual marks, but the 27-year-old is capable of going on a hot streak at any moment.

  • Jorge Mateo SS | ATL

Padres' Jorge Mateo: Could move to active roster soon

Mateo (illness) is impressing at the Padres' alternate training site and could be moved to the big-league club soon, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Mateo missed most of summer camp after testing positive for COVID-19, but he has been working out at the team's alternate site and appears close to a promotion to the big-league roster. It is unclear how much playing time Mateo would receive out the gate with Jurickson Profar, Greg Garcia and Jake Cronenworth all vying for time at second base. To make matters more complicated, MLB rosters are sent to be reduced from 30 to 28 on Thursday.

  • Tommy Edman 2B | LAD

Cardinals' Tommy Edman: Likely shifting to shortstop

Edman, who's started at third base in all five of his games thus far this season, is expected to shift to shortstop in the wake of Paul DeJong's (illness) absence, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The key takeaway from a fantasy standpoint is that Edman will naturally continue in an everyday role as he looks to build on an interesting start to the season at the plate. While the 25-year-old is hitting just .250 and has an on-base percentage of .286, he also boasts a .550 slugging percentage since three (one double, one triple, one home run) of his five hits have gone for extra bases.
