  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Pops 29th homer Friday

Baez went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in Friday's loss to the Phillies.

Baez put the Cubs up 1-0 with his solo shot in the fifth inning, though it ultimately wouldn't be enough as the Phillies went on to win 2-1 in extra innings. He added a single, marking his 12th multi-hit game in 27 games this month. The 25-year-old is making a strong case for MVP with his .295/.328/.572 slash line, 29 homers, 98 RBI and 21 stolen bases.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Absent from Friday's lineup

Crawford is not in the lineup against the Mets on Friday, Kerry Crowley of the Bay Area News Group reports.

Crawford will receive a breather after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts during Wednesday's game. In his place, Alen Hanson will start at shortstop.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Takes seat Friday

Rojas is not in the lineup against Toronto on Friday, Andre Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Rojas will head to the bench after going 1-for-9 during a two-game set in Boston earlier this week. Across the month of August, he's hit just .230 with a .619 OPS and failed to record a multi-hit game in 23 outings. JT Riddle will man shortstop and bat sixth in his absence.

  • Oneil Cruz SS | PIT

Pirates' Oneil Cruz: Dealing with groin strain

Cruz hasn't played for Low-A West Virginia since Aug. 13 due to a mild groin strain, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

West Virginia's season is set to end Monday, and it appears unlikely that Cruz will be activated from the 7-day disabled list before then. Since the injury isn't considered a major setback, Cruz should enjoy a rather normal offseason in preparation for an assignment to the Florida State League next spring. The 19-year-old shortstop was impressive in his first complete year of full-season ball, finishing with a .286/.343/.488 slash line, 14 home runs and 11 steals.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Out of lineup Thursday

Arcia is not in the lineup versus the Reds on Thursday.

Arcia will remain out of the starting nine for the second straight game, and fourth time in the past five outings. He did join Wednesday's game, going 0-for-3 with one run scored during the club's extra-inning victory. Hernan Perez will draw a start at shortstop for the series finale.

  • Braves' Johan Camargo: Homers, gathers three hits in loss

Camargo went 3-for-4 with a three-run home run, two runs scored and a walk in Wednesday's loss to the Rays.

Camargo came up with a game-tying three-run homer in the first inning and would end up reaching base safely four times in all in this one. The 24-year-old has been enjoying a solid August, slashing .308/.351/.452 with 11 extra-base hits and 17 RBI in the month.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Out of Wednesday's lineup

Arcia is out of the starting nine versus the Reds on Wednesday.

Arcia will ride the pine for a third time in the past four games while Jonathan Schoop gets a start at shortstop. Since returning to the big leagues in late July, Arcia is hitting .275/.306/.362 with one home run and seven RBI across 24 games.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Heads to bench Wednesday

Baez will not be in the lineup against the Mets on Wednesday, Mark Gonzales of The Chicago Tribune reports.

Baez will receive a rare breather after starting the past 29 games. With the Cubs finishing up Tuesday's suspended game Wednesday afternoon and playing the regularly-scheduled matinee, manager Joe Maddon will give Baez some rest with 14 games coming up in the next 14 days. In his place, David Bote will get a start at shortstop.

  • Trevor Story SS | BOS

Rockies' Trevor Story: Nabs 21st steal

Story went 2-for-4 with his 21st stolen base of the season and a run in the Rockies' 3-2 win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Story was also caught stealing in the contest, but his 21-for-27 success rate on the bases this season is excellent for a player who had gone only 15-for-22 on steal attempts through his first two years in the majors. In addition to his contributions on the basepaths, Story is also one home run shy of matching the career-best total of 27 he notched as a rookie. He's only one of five players in the majors with 25 or more long balls and 20 or more steals in 2018.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Nationals' Trea Turner: On base three times in rout of Mets

Turner went 2-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs scored in Sunday's win over the Mets.

Seven different Nats crossed the plate more than once in the 15-0 drubbing, and Turner joined in on the parade around the basepaths. The shortstop has had a bit of a sluggish August, slashing .265/.318/.392, but his two homers, seven steals, nine RBI and 17 runs in 25 games have still given him solid fantasy value.
