  • Paul DeJong SS | DET

Cardinals' Paul DeJong: Smacks go-ahead homer

DeJong went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Dodgers.

He touched up Kenley Jansen in the ninth to break a 1-1 tie. DeJong has just 14 home runs on the season and his slugging percentage is down nearly 100 points from a year ago, but five of his homers have come in his last 15 games, which may be a sign that he's finally regained full strength in his previously injured left hand.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Pops 10th homer

Rojas went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 9-3 win over the Yankees.

The shortstop's 10th homer of the season was the big blow in a five-run sixth inning that gave the Marlins a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Rojas' .256/.305/.361 slash line on the year limits his fantasy value to NL-only and deep mixed leagues, but his developing power stroke could make the 29-year-old the favorite to win Miami's starting shortstop spot in 2019.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Cubs' Javier Baez: Launches three-run home run

Baez went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run in Wednesday's 8-2 win over the Tigers.

The Cubs entered the top of the ninth inning up by only two runs, but Baez broke the game open with his 26th home run of the season, a three-run shot off Victor Alcantara that made it 7-2. Baez has already set new career highs in home runs and RBI (92), as the 25-year-old has played like a legitimate MVP candidate this season.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Returns to lineup

Rojas (ankle) is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh Wednesday against the Yankees, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Rojas has finally been cleared to rejoin the starting lineup for the first time since injuring his ankle Aug. 13. He was able to make three pinch-hit appearances over that six-game stretch, going 1-for-3 with one RBI.

  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Braves' Dansby Swanson: Hits pair of two-run homers

Swanson was 2-for-4 with two two-run home runs in Tuesday's 6-1 win at Pittsburgh.

The two-homer effort was Swanson's first of the season and brings his season total to 12. The 24-year-old has a .245/.301/.410 slash line for the season with 52 RBI and five stolen bases.

  • Giants' Brandon Crawford: Day off Tuesday

Crawford will be on the bench Tuesday against the Mets, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Crawford has just two hits in his last six games. Alen Hanson will start at shortstop in his place Tuesday, with Hunter Pence starting in Hanson's typical spot in left field.

  • Miguel Rojas SS | LAD

Marlins' Miguel Rojas: Still not starting Tuesday

Rojas (ankle) remains out of the starting lineup Tuesday against the Yankees, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Rojas bruised his ankle back on Aug. 13 and hasn't started since, but he's been able to come off the bench on three occasions. It's unclear if he remains injured or if he's simply been removed from the lineup in favor of JT Riddle, who has now started eight straight games at shortstop.

  • Orlando Arcia SS | MIN

Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Swipes fifth base

Arcia went 1-for-4 with a stolen base Sunday against the Cardinals.

The Brewers' crowded infield has frequently forced Arcia out of the lineup, leaving him to enter games primarily as a pinch hitter or defensive replacement. However, he earned his second consecutive start Sunday and took advantage by swiping his fifth base of the season. He's put together a disappointing season but is 9-for-26 with a home run and two stolen bases in August.

  • Allen Cordoba SS | CIN

Padres' Allen Cordoba: Undergoes season-ending thumb surgery

Cordoba underwent season-ending surgery to repair UCL damage in his left thumb Sunday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

After spending the entirety of the 2017 season on the Padres' roster as a Rule 5 pick, Cordoba went all the way back down to High-A Lake Elsinore this year, hitting just .206/.233/.310 in 45 games. He'll look to continue climbing the levels next year but is far from returning to the big leagues.

  • Nick Ahmed SS | TEX

Diamondbacks' Nick Ahmed: Day off Sunday

Ahmed is not starting Sunday against San Diego.

Ahmed is hitting .284 with four homers and an .852 OPS since the All-Star break. Ketel Marte will slide over to shortstop Sunday, with Daniel Descalso starting at second base.
