Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Called up by Braves
The Braves called up Swanson from Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday.
Swanson reached Double-A for the first time this season and has played just 84 games at the level, but the Braves believe he is ready for big-league action. His .745 OPS with Mississippi does not jump off the page, but with Erick Aybar traded to the Tigers, Swanson will take over as the Braves' regular shortstop for the foreseeable future. Swanson will hit eighth Wednesday in his big league debut.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Marlins' Dee Gordon: Notches third straight two-hit game Tuesday
Gordon collected two more hits and stole a base in Tuesday's loss to the Reds.
That makes three straight multi-hit games for the leadoff man as he continues to put in solid work at the dish. Since returning from an 80-game PED suspension on July 28, Gordon has batted .338/.413/.400 with 17 runs scored and eight steals in 17 games.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Phillies' J.P. Crawford: Takes batting practice Tuesday
Crawford (oblique) took part in infield drills and batting practice Tuesday, Tom Housenick of the Allentown Morning Call reports.
Crawford has been sidelined since last week with what appears to be a mild oblique strain. Manager Dave Brundage said he hopes to have Crawford back in the lineup soon.

Javier Baez SS | DET
Cubs' Javier Baez: Slams 13th homer against Brewers
Baez homered and knocked in two runs in a 2-for-4 game in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against Milwaukee.
Baez extended his hitting streak to four games and has two homers in that short span. While his plate discipline continues to be lacking (11:79 BB:K), Baez is supplying great power for somebody with his excellent positional versatility. With 13 home runs in just 321 plate appearances, Baez is showing he has 20-homer power if he can ever find a positional home where he can get consistent at-bats.

Dansby Swanson SS | CHC
Braves' Dansby Swanson: Joining Braves on Wednesday
Swanson will be called up from Double-A Mississippi on Wednesday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
The Braves dealt Erick Aybar to the Tigers on Tuesday, clearing room for their top prospect to join the major league roster. Swanson is expected to be in the lineup Wednesday to face Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson in his big league debut. While Swanson saw a significant drop in production after moving up to Mississippi and may be in line for more growing pains with another jump in levels, he will gain valuable experience over the final couple months in preparation for the Opening Day nod in 2017.

Orlando Arcia SS | MIN
Brewers' Orlando Arcia: Out of lineup for second Tuesday game
Arcia is out of the lineup for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Cubs.
Milwaukee will rest the 22-year-old for their second game Tuesday evening and move Jonathan Villar over to shortstop. During game one Arcia went 0-for-3 at the plate, bringing his batting average down to .173.

Dee Strange-Gordon SS | WAS
Marlins' Dee Gordon: Drives in two Monday
Gordon went 2-for-5 with a double, a run and two RBI in Monday's 6-3 win over the Reds.
Gordon has wreaked havoc over the past 10 games, using his speed to score 12 runs and swipe six bags out of the Marlins leadoff spot. This effort was highly unusual for the middle infielder, as he has driven in multiple runs in just one other game this season while also serving an 80-game suspension for performance enhancing drugs.

Luis Sardinas SS | WAS
Padres' Luis Sardinas: May join Padres soon
Manager Andy Green suggested Monday that Sardinas could be with the major league club soon, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. "I don't think we (acquired) him to relegate him to Triple-A the rest of the year."
The 23-year old utility player was designated for assignment by the Mariners last week after hitting just .181/.203/.264 with the club. The Padres decided to snatch the youngster up and appear ready to give him another shot at the major league level.

Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU
Cardinals' Aledmys Diaz: Won't return in August
Diaz (thumb) won't be reevaluated for another two weeks, ending his chances of returning in August, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
Diaz's rehab process appears to be coming along slowly, with a September return now the earliest possibility. More on his status should come in a couple weeks when he's reevaluated. In the meantime, St. Louis should continue to roll with Greg Garcia as the primary shortstop.

J.P. Crawford SS | SEA
Phillies' J.P. Crawford: Dealing with oblique injury
Crawford is dealing with an oblique injury, Matt Breen of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
The severity of Crawford's setback is not certain, but he will sit out for the sixth straight game Monday. The Phillies figure to take the cautious route with Crawford, so it remains to be seen when he will be back on the field.
