Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford went 2 for 3 with a walk, a double, a home run and three RBI in his team's 9-0 win over the Dodgers Friday.
The Giants closed the gap with the division-leading Dodgers to one game thanks in part to Crawford, who doubled home the final run in a four-run first inning before slugging a two-run home run in the fifth. He has hit .238/.320/.381 with nine home runs and 62 RBI in 446 at-bats.

The Padres added infielder Ryan Jackson to the 40-man roster Tuesday then immediately placed him on the 60-day disabled list with a wrist injury, MLB.com reports. Jackson is recovering from June wrist surgery.

The Diamondbacks activated infielder Chris Owings (shoulder) and outfielder A.J. Pollock (hand) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, the team announced.
Owings has been out since late June due to his injury, while Pollock's has kept him out since late May.

Trio of Diamondbacks coming back September 1
The Diamondbacks are set to bring back some of their injured players once rosters expand, according to FoxSports.
Outfielder A.J. Pollock, shortstop Chris Owings and starter Daniel Hudson should be back with the team September 1. Pollock has been out since late May with a hand issue. Owings has been dealing with a should injury. Hudson is coming back following Tommy John surgery.

Giants shortstop Brandon Crawford was scratched from the lineup for the second day in a row Thursday against the Rockies, due to a right shoulder that "has been bugging me pretty good the last four or five day," he told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Crawford was also out of the lineup Wednesday, and it is not clear when he is expected back. It seems like he could play through the injury, but it is affected his throwing right now.

Pennington launched a solo home run off Dale Thayer in the eighth inning. He finished 1 for 1 with a run scored and an RBI in a 7-4 defeat. He owns a .274/.357/.395 slash line with two homers and 10 RBI over 124 at-bats. His two homers have come over his last nine appearances. -

Tejada took Kevin Correia deep for a two-run home run in the third inning to break the game open. He finished 1 for 4 with a run scored and two RBI. He owns a .230/.345/.289 slash line with three homers and 25 RBI over 305 at-bats. -

Veteran Cliff Pennington has no set position, but Kirk Gibson has found a way to get him into the lineup virtually every day for the Diamondbacks. He has started at second, third and shortstop in the last six games.
Pennington has earned the playing time. He has at least one hit in each of those starts and is 10 for 25 during that stretch with eight runs scored and six walks. His .369 on-base percentage is at its highest point since May 5.
