Wendle, who went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and a stolen base in a win over the Red Sox on Friday, is 0-for-20 in five September games outside of his trio of two-hit efforts.

It's been a somewhat unusual ride for Wendle since the calendar flipped, as the normally above-average contact hitter has also struck out on multiple occasions in three games and 10 times overall. Wendle has had moments this season where he's looked like the hitter that slashed .300/.354/.435 over 545 plate appearances back in 2018, but there have also been stretches bearing resemblance to his career-worst 2019 campaign in which he produced an unsightly .231/.293/.340 line in 75 games. Wendle's defensive versatility does continue to afford him regular playing time, as he's now seen time for at least a portion of a game on 18 occasions at second base, 20 at third base, and eight at shortstop.

Fletcher (ankle) was activated off the 10-day injured list Saturday and is starting at second base and batting leadoff against the Rockies.

The 26-year-old missed just under two weeks with a left ankle sprain, but he's back in action for Saturday's contest. Fletcher is slashing .313/.377/.438 with three homers and two stolen bases in 35 games, and he'll look to pick up where he left off prior to the injury.

Garcia isn't in Saturday's lineup against the Cardinals.

Garcia went 1-for-8 with four strikeouts over the last two games, and he'll retreat to the bench Saturday. Kyle Farmer will serve as the shortstop in his place.

Bichette (knee) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday and will start at shortstop against the Mets, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Bichette missed just shy of a month with a sprained right knee. He'd been off to an excellent start prior to the injury, going hitless just once in his first 14 games while posting a 1.063 OPS and homering five times. He may not be in the lineup every day immediately upon his return, but he should play as frequently as his knee can handle.

Bichette (knee) is expected to be activated from the injured list Saturday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Bichette has been sidelined since Aug. 15 due to a right knee sprain, and he's expected to return to the lineup for Saturday's contest against the Mets. The 22-year-old has been playing the field at the Blue Jays' alternate training site and was riding a nine-game hitting streak prior to the injury.

Mondesi went 1-for-3 with three runs scored, two walks, two stolen bases and an RBI in a 4-3 win over the Pirates on Friday.

Mondesi played a role in every run scored by the Royals on Friday, and he now has 15 stolen bases on the season. He's also riding an eight-game hitting streak, which has buoyed his September average to .286.

Fletcher (ankle) is hopeful that he'll be activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

There was hope that Fletcher could return from the injured list Thursday, but he needed some additional time to recover. However, he said Friday that his ankle is feeling better. He should resume his duties as a utility player for the Angels once he's officially activated.

Baez is not in the lineup for Friday's game in Milwaukee.

Baez sits for just the third time all season despite the fact that he's hitting .196/.235/.357 on the year. Nico Hoerner will be the shortstop in his absence.

Adames is out of the lineup Friday against the Red Sox, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Adames is 1-for-17 with 13 strikeouts over his past five games and will head to the bench Friday. Joey Wendle will take over at shortstop while Brandon Lowe starts at second base.

Crawford was placed on the bereavement list Friday.

The bereavement list is typically for players dealing with serious family health issues, so Crawford will be away from the team for a few days. Dee Strange-Gordon and Dylan Moore are the likely candidates to see time at shortstop during his absence.
