Wendle who went 2-for-3 with a run in a win over the Blue Jays on Friday, is 7-for-18 with a double, an RBI, a walk, three stolen bases and six runs across the first six games of September.

The valued utility man's bat seems to finally be awakening from a season-long slumber, and at a crucial time at that. Wendle has already boosted his season average 18 points to .227 with his current surge, and he's hit safely in nine of 10 starts since returning from the injured list due to a wrist issue.

Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Friday's 6-1 win over the Yankees.

Bogaerts plated his 104th and 105th runs of the season, moving him into third in the AL behind Jose Abreu and teammate Rafael Devers. He's reached base safely in 12 straight games, blasting four home runs and knocking in 11 during the streak.

Anderson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in Friday's 5-4 win over the Angels.

Anderson moved to the leadoff spot Friday as Leury Garcia (personal) was away attending the funeral services of a relative. Anderson has hit safely in seven straight games (six with multiple hits), going 14-for-32 with five doubles, two homers and four RBI.

Ahmed went 1-for-3 with a walk and solo home run in Friday's 7-5 win over the Reds.

Ahmed snapped a 13-game drought without a homer in the third inning when he went yard to put Arizona on the board. He was one of the hottest hitters on the planet at the beginning of August and is once against heating up. He's gone 10-for-29 with four doubles, one homer and seven RBI over the last eight games.

Lindor went 2-for-6 with a solo home run and an RBI single in Friday's 6-2 win over the Twins.

Lindor opened the scoring with a solo shot off Twins starter Michael Pineda in the third inning. He later added a bases-loaded single in the 11th as part of a four-run rally. The shortstop is up to 28 homers, 66 RBI, and 85 runs scored while batting .297/.348/.536 in 564 plate appearances this season. Lindor has also added 20 stolen bases.

Edman went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in a 9-4 loss to the Pirates on Friday.

It looked like Edman's two homers would be enough for the Cardinals to win, as they held a three-run lead in the seventh, but then the Pirates offense exploded. Edman still had a great night, and he has six extra-base hits in his last five games. He is batting .283 with seven home runs, 26 RBI, 42 runs and 11 steals in just 247 at-bats this season.

Baez will undergo an MRI on his left thumb Saturday, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

The Cubs haven't been able to figure out exactly what is wrong with Baez's thumb since he injured it Sunday. He hasn't appeared in a game since. He had an X-ray on Sunday which revealed no structural damage, so the Cubs will be hoping for more good news from Saturday's test.

Crawford is not in the lineup Friday against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Crawford won't be asked to face a difficult lefty in Clayton Kershaw. Mauricio Dubon will slide to shortstop in his absence, with Donovan Solano starting at second base.

Baez (thumb) is not in Friday's lineup against the Brewers.

He left Sunday's game with thumb and neck injuries and was set to return Thursday but was a late scratch. It's unclear when he will be ready to return to action. Addison Russell is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh.

Gordon is not in the lineup for Friday's game at Houston, Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports.

Gordon started the last nine games and has nine hits and two steals in his last 22 at-bats, but he'll head to the bench with southpaw Framber Valdez on the mound for Houston. Shed Long will start at the keystone and bat eighth in his stead.
