Luciano was promoted to short-season Salem-Keizer, Giants Prospects reports.

The top prospect to sign on July 2, 2018, Luciano hit .322/.438/.616 with 10 home runs and eight steals in the AZL. He turns 18 in September and is one of the most exciting prospects in the minor leagues.

Swanson's recovery from a foot contusion "hasn't really taken the turn for the better like we wanted," said manager Brian Snitker, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

His return is clearly not imminent, and he could be dealing with something slightly worse than a contusion. Swanson should be considered out indefinitely, and in shallower leagues without injured-list spots, it might be time to pivot to a different option. Charlie Culberson and Johan Camargo will continue to share time at shortstop.

Arcia is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers.

This is Arcia's second absence in three days, with both coming against opposing lefty starters. A right-handed batter, Arcia is slashing just .245/.290/.367 with the platoon advantage this season, while Hernan Perez is a .272/.293/.442 career hitter against lefties.

Owings' contract was selected from Triple-A Pawtucket, and he is leading off and starting at second base Sunday against the Angels, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

He played second base, third base, shortstop and all three outfield spots while at Pawtucket, so Owings is seemingly prepared for a utility role with Boston. He hit .133 in 145 plate appearances with the Royals earlier this season and batted .325/.385/.595 with 11 home runs in 44 games with Pawtucket.

Gordon will start at second base and bat seventh in Saturday's game against the Rays.

Gordon was activated from the injured list just prior to Saturday's game and will man second base. His slot as the seventh batter in the order is noteworthy, as he has primarily been either the leadoff or ninth hitter for the M's this season.

Gordon (quadriceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Gordon was placed on the IL on July 23 for what was supposed to be a relatively short stay. While his absence was longer than expected, it may have given him enough time to fully heal, an important factor given the value of his speed. Gordon should be set to regain his role as the regular starter at second base.

Ahmed isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Ahmed is 2-for-12 over his last three matchups, so he'll catch a breather Saturday evening. Ketel Marte draws the start at shortstop and will hit second in Ahmed's absence.

Camargo is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Marlins.

Camargo will sit for the third consecutive game, giving way to Charlie Culberson, who will start at shortstop and bat eighth. Camargo has regularly appeared in the starting lineup in the absence of Dansby Swanson (foot), but he has just three hits -- none for extra bases -- and four walks in his last 25 plate appearances.

Berti is not in Saturday's lineup against the Braves, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

He is hitting .361 with zero home runs and four steals in 36 at-bats in August. Deven Marrero will start at shortstop and bat eighth.

Edman went 2-for-4 with a triple in a win over the Pirates on Friday.

Edman snapped out of a 3-for-26 slump that had encompassed his previous seven games with the three-bagger. The 24-year-rookie has generated 13 extra-base hits (six doubles, three triples and four home runs) over his first 151 plate appearances, solid numbers he's complemented with six stolen bases and 19 runs overall.
