Correa (shoulder) is back in the lineup at shortstop and hitting in the cleanup spot Sunday against the Cubs, MLB.com's Brian McTaggart reports.

Left shoulder inflammation had sidelined Correa for the previous four games. But as manager A.J. Hinch suggested earlier last week, the star shortstop was able to return to action before the series with the Cubs came to a conclusion. The injury had made it difficult for Correa to swing without much pain, but he's apparently made significant progress over the last couple of days. Though Correa may be in line for a day off at some point during the upcoming week, he appears primed to take back an everyday role.

Wendle is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mariners, John Hickey of the San Jose Mercury News reports.

Wendle has taken over as the Athletics' primary second baseman since his Aug. 31 promotion to the big leagues, going 7-for-26 (.269 average) with five RBI and two runs in his eight games. He'll give way to Chad Pinder on Sunday, but should continue to see the bulk of the duties at the keystone over the final few weeks of the season.

Diaz (thumb) will be activated for Sunday's game against the Brewers, Jim Hayes of Fox Sports Midwest reports.

While he's not in the starting lineup, Diaz will be on roster for the Cardinals' matchup against Milwaukee. Diaz has said that he feels capable of pinch hitting, so it would be possible for him to see some time on the field for the first time since July 31.

Sardinas is not in Sunday's lineup against Colorado.

With Sardinas out, Alexi Amarista will start at shortstop and hit eighth against Chad Bettis and the Rockies. Sardinas will likely be back in his usual spot Monday for San Diego's series opener against the Giants.

Diaz (thumb) said that he feels ready to play, Jim Hayes of Fox Sports Midwest reports.

Diaz also said that he feels up to pinch hitting Sunday, but he's yet to come off the DL. Although it appears that his return is near, look for Jedd Gyorko to continue starting at shortstop until the rookie is back in action.

Mondesi is not in the lineup Sunday for the second day in a row, according to MLB.com's Jeffrey Flanagan.

Mondesi went just 1-for-17 over his last six games, so manager Ned Yost decided to give him back-to-back days off to clear his head. Christian Colon will serve as the Royals' second baseman Sunday afternoon.

Mondesi is out of the lineup Saturday against the White Sox, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

The 21-year-old is sitting for the third time in five games, and manager Ned Yost said that he's looking to get Whit Merrifield and Christian Colon more involved between second base and third down the stretch. Mondesi's defense has been excellent, but he's batting just .175/.223/.263 in 127 plate appearances.

Featherston was designated for assignment Saturday.

The Phillies needed to clear room on the 40-man roster in order to select the contract of reliever Joely Rodriguez, so Featherston was the casualty. He has now failed to make himself valuable in two talent-deprived organizations (Phillies and Angels) and should simply serve as organizational depth going forward wherever he ends up.

Turner went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and a game-winning solo shot in Friday's 5-4 victory over the Phillies.

The dynamic leadoff man was the hero, blasting a ninth-inning solo shot off reliever Frank Herrmann to send the Nationals home winners. Turner had also extended the Washington lead to 4-1 in the seventh with a 409-foot two-run shot that plated Danny Espinosa. After an August where he slashed .357/.366/.571, Turner has now started September with multihit outings in five of his first eight games, including three homers and eight RBI over that span.

Correa (shoulder) is once again out of the Astros' lineup Saturday for their matchup with the Cubs.

While Correa is technically day-to-day, he has been struggling to even take swings since suffering a shoulder injury and will miss his fourth consecutive game Saturday. The team was originally optimistic the 21-year-old would be able to return to the lineup at some point for this weekend's series, but Alex Bregman will start in his place Saturday.
