  • Dansby Swanson SS | CHC

Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Records two hits in return

Swanson (knee) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Tuesday's 4-3, extra-inning win over Atlanta.

Swanson was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday night and he made his return to the lineup Tuesday after missing two weeks. The shortstop hit the ground running against his former team, though he's been off to a slow start overall with just a .218 batting average across 38 games. Swanson should still see regular playing time moving forward despite his struggles, and he's talented enough to heat up in a hurry.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Getting day off

Baez is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Royals.

Baez will give way to Zach McKinstry at shortstop Tuesday after making eight straight starts. Baez finally found his groove at the plate during the Tigers' three-game series against the D-Backs last week, going 8-for-13 with four doubles and seven RBI.

  • Trea Turner SS | PHI

Phillies' Trea Turner: Hits on field, runs at 80 percent

Turner (hamstring) hit on the field and ran at 80 percent effort level Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Turner has ramped up his workouts over the last week and has not reported any soreness in his left hamstring. The Phillies have been encouraged by Turner's progress, but they insist he won't be rushed and have not offered an amendment of the shortstop's initial six-week timetable. However, Friday will be just the three-week mark of the injury, so it sure seems as though Turner is ahead of schedule.

  • Aledmys Diaz 1B | HOU

Athletics' Aledmys Diaz: Time off after back-to-back games

Diaz (calf) appeared in back-to-back rehab games with Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday before receiving Sunday off.

Diaz played seven innings at third base in Friday's game against El Paso before walking in his only plate appearance as the designated hitter Saturday. There's been no report of an aggravation of the injury to explain why Diaz was in the game for such a brief time Saturday, and he was then out of the lineup Sunday before the team's off day Monday. The Aviators also saw their scheduled game against Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday postponed due to rain, so Diaz will have had some extra rest if he does return to the lineup for the Aviators on Wednesday.

  • Luis Vazquez SS | BAL

Cubs' Luis Vazquez: Recalled to big club

The Cubs recalled Vazquez from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Vazquez, 27, has hit .262 with three home runs over 39 games with Iowa this season. He will provide some reinforcement in the infield with Nico Hoerner (hamstring) banged up and would be making his major-league debut if/when he gets into a game.

  • Edmundo Sosa 3B | PHI

Phillies' Edmundo Sosa: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Sosa is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Rangers.

Sosa has received most of the starts at shortstop since Trea Turner went down and boasts a .924 OPS over that time. However, the Phillies are going with Bryson Stott at shortstop and Kody Clemens at second base versus righty Jon Gray and the Rangers.

  • Jose Caballero 2B | NYY

Rays' Jose Caballero: Missing from Tuesday's lineup

Caballero is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Red Sox.

Caballero will get a day off Tuesday, giving way to Amed Rosario at shortstop. Caballero owns a .257/.315/.365 slash line across 164 plate appearances.

  • Vidal Brujan 2B | NYM

Marlins' Vidal Brujan: Taking seat Tuesday

Brujan is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Brewers.

Brujan had made 16 straight starts, with the last nine of them coming at shortstop while Tim Anderson (back) was out. Anderson has returned to the Marlins' lineup at shortstop Tuesday, and the club is sticking with Otto Lopez at second base while Brujan gets a breather.

  • Tim Anderson 2B | LAA

    Marlins' Tim Anderson: Officially reinstated

Anderson (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Anderson will be available for Tuesday's game against the Brewers after missing exactly 10 days with back soreness. In two rehab starts, Anderson went 4-for-9 with a two-run home run and four additional runs scored, possibly a sign of encouragement for fantasy managers after Anderson started the MLB season batting .197 with a 29.7 percent strikeout rate.

  • J.P. Crawford SS | SEA

Mariners' J.P. Crawford: In-game replacement in IL return

Crawford (oblique), activated from the injured list earlier in the day, entered Monday's win over the Yankees as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and remained in the game at shortstop, going 0-for-2.

Crawford struck out swinging in his pinch-hit appearance and subsequently flied out to center to close out the ninth. The veteran shortstop was logging his first game action since April 23, and given his in-game appearance and ability to play defense Monday, he's a likely candidate to return to the starting nine Tuesday.
