McLain went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's win over the Angels.

McLain got the Reds on the board early, tagging Lucas Giolito for a solo home run in the first inning. The long ball would end up being McLain's only hit on the day, moving him to 1-for-10 (.100) over his last three appearances. Despite McLain's sub-par 28.3 percent strikeout rate, he's been a reliable part of the Reds order, slashing .295/.363/.510 with 58 runs scored and 11 stolen bases through 83 games.

Adames went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's victory over Minnesota.

Adames connected on a Bailey Ober changeup in the first inning for the shortstop's 20th long ball of the season. The home run was his second in his last three games and marked his fourth consecutive contest with an RBI. Over his last four appearances, Adames is 8-for-17 (.471) with six RBI.

Swanson went 2-for-4 with a home run and four total RBI in Monday's 8-6 loss to the Tigers.

Swanson hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning, then drove in two more runs on a single later in the game. The shortstop needs one more long ball to reach 20 homers for the third straight year. Swanson also now has 64 RBI this season, which is still a ways away from the career-high 96 he recorded last year with Atlanta.

Baez was scratched from Tuesday's lineup against the Cubs with an illness, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Zack Short will man shortstop while Zach McKinstry is added to the lineup at third base. Baez should be considered day-to-day.

An MRI taken Monday on Crawford's left forearm revealed a mild strain, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

That's better than some of the other possible diagnoses, but there remains no timetable as to when the veteran shortstop might be able to return to the Giants' active roster. He was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday and San Francisco signed Paul DeJong to a major-league contract Tuesday.

Reyes in not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Astros.

Reyes will open the game on the bench for the first time since Aug. 4. Since then, the second baseman has been slashing .352/.397/.537 with two home runs. Luis Urias will start in his place at second base and bat eighth.

Rocchio is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Dodgers.

Rocchio and Gabriel Arias have shared the shortstop job for the Guardians since the trade of Amed Rosario, and it will be Arias at the position for this one after Rocchio had started four of the previous five games there. The 22-year-old Rocchio has collected a .610 OPS over 18 games for Cleveland this season.

DeJong agreed to a major-league contract with the Giants on Tuesday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

DeJong has found a new home just one day after being released by the Blue Jays, who had acquired him from the Cardinals at the Aug. 1 trade deadline. The 30-year-old went 3-for-44 (.068) with zero extra-base hits in 13 games for Toronto, but he could immediately become the primary starter at shortstop in San Francisco, or at least share playing time with Johan Camargo. Brandon Crawford has had a rough year at age 36 and landed on the 10-day injured list Sunday because of a left forearm strain.

Lindor went 2-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and an additional run scored in Monday's 10-4 victory over Atlanta.

Lindor remained locked in at the plate Monday, extending his hitting streak to eight games with a fifth-inning single and later adding a three-run homer to extend New York's lead to 10-4 in the sixth. The 29-year-old switch hitter registered three batted balls with exit velocities over 100 mph, including a flyout to the center-field fence in the first inning. During Lindor's hitting streak, he's batting .400 (14-for-35) with one home run, eight RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases.

Franco was placed on administrative leave Tuesday by Major League Baseball under the Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

He had been on the restricted list in a mutual agreement between the Rays and the player, but Franco has now been shifted to administrative leave as the league and authorities in the Dominican Republic continue their investigations into his alleged inappropriate relationships with minors. Franco doesn't have a set length for his stay on administrative leave, as MLB can typically extend it on a week-by-week basis until the investigations have been completed. Franco will continue to be paid and accrue service time while on leave.
