Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Lands on injured list

The Blue Jays placed Barger on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to a left ankle sprain.

Barger sustained the injury Sunday against the White Sox, and the Blue Jays initially labeled the issue as bilateral ankle discomfort. Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Barger was "trending in the right direction," but the 26-year-old will still need some time on the shelf to recover. He'll be eligible to rejoin the active roster April 16.

  • Andrew Sears SP | DET

Tigers' Andrew Sears: Recovering from elbow injury

Sears is recovering from a left elbow osteophyte fracture and is in a throwing program, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

Sears enjoyed a breakout 2025 season, logging a 3.49 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 123 strikeouts in 111 innings across High-A and Double-A. He only made six starts at Double-A last year, and it's unclear how lengthy Sears' recovery will be.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Yankees' Ryan McMahon: On bench Tuesday

McMahon is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the A's.

McMahon has gone 2-for-23 with six walks and 11 strikeouts through nine games this season and will hit the bench Tuesday for the second time this year. Amed Rosario is instead starting at the hot corner and batting seventh.

  • Bryce Teodosio CF | LAA

Angels' Bryce Teodosio: RBI in win

Teodosio went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Monday's 6-2 win against Atlanta.

Teodosio earned his first hit and RBI of the season in the fourth inning with an infield single off Chris Sale. The 26-year-old made the team as a defensive specialist in the outfield and as a result has made eight appearances thus far, but he's started only twice in the young campaign. Last year, Teodosio batted only .203 in 50 games while mostly producing soft contact to go along with a 31.3 percent strikeout rate, but he stole seven bases when he got on base.

  • Kelvis Salcedo SP | DET

Tigers' Kelvis Salcedo: Delayed start to season

Single-A Lakeland placed Salcedo on the 7-day injured list as he recovers from right meniscus surgery, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.

Salcedo has been throwing live batting practice, so he could return in a matter of weeks. He had a 1.54 ERA, 0.60 WHIP and 32 strikeouts in 23.1 innings at Single-A to close last season, and the 20-year-old righty should get a bump to High-A once he knocks some rust off for the Flying Tigers.

  • Aldrin Batista SP | CHW

White Sox's Aldrin Batista: Shelved at High-A

High-A Winston-Salem placed Batista on the 60-day injured list March 26 while he recovers from an elbow injury, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

Batista suffered a stress fracture in his elbow last April, but he returned Aug. 20 to log 10.1 innings for the Dash, so he must have re-injured the elbow late last season or while ramping up this spring.

  • White Sox's Alexander Albertus: Nearing return

Albertus is continuing his recovery from a fractured left tibia suffered in July 2024, with the hope that he'll be able to join an affiliate by the end of April, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

Albertus played in eight games in the Arizona Complex League last June, logging a 168 wRC+, but he presumably re-injured his surgically repaired tibia, as he didn't play again after June 23. Given that the former Dodgers farmhand is already 21, he could spend most of the season at High-A Winston-Salem.

  • Red Sox's Kutter Crawford: Closing in on rehab assignment

Crawford (wrist) is on track to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Worcester this weekend, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

Crawford is set to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, and as long as he gets through that without any setbacks, he'll be cleared to take the ball for the WooSox. It would be the first time Crawford has pitched in a game since he underwent right wrist surgery last summer. The righty will need a few rehab outings, and he could remain with Worcester rather than rejoin the Red Sox after the rehab assignment is over.

  • White Sox's Mathias LaCombe: Slowed by shoulder issue

LaCombe fell behind in camp due to shoulder discomfort but could join Single-A Kannapolis in the near future, Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline reports.

The White Sox have been churning out some notable pitching prospects over the past year, and LaCombe could follow such a path once healthy. The 6-foot-2 righty logged an impressive 32.6 percent strikeout rate and 1.11 WHIP in 53.1 innings in the lower levels last year, so he could get a bump to High-A Winston-Salem before long.

  • Addison Barger SS | TOR

Blue Jays' Addison Barger: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Barger (ankle) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers.

Barger will sit Tuesday for a second straight game after exiting Sunday's matchup with the White Sox due to bilateral ankle discomfort. Manager John Schneider said Monday that the 26-year-old was "trending in the right direction" but couldn't rule out the possibility of a stint on the injured list. Nathan Lukes is starting in right field Tuesday for Toronto.
