The Angels recalled Silseth from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

The moves comes as the Angels place Reid Detmers (elbow) on the 15-day injured list. Silseth appeared in one game for Triple-A Salt Lake after his demotion Sunday, in which he allowed no runs on two hits in one inning.

Robles isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Angels, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Robles will head to the bench for a second consecutive game Thursday after going 5-for-17 since coming back from his suspension. His absence will allow Luke Raley to start in right field while batting seventh.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed Thursday that Volpe has been playing through a partial labrum tear in his left shoulder, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Volpe underwent an MRI in May after hurting his left shoulder on a dive. The imaging revealed a tear, though the Yankees believed it was an old injury that the shortstop could play through. Volpe has done just that, avoiding a stint on the injured list, but his play has suffered, as he's struggled defensively and slashed .182/.230/.368 since June 1. The 24-year-old has aggravated the injury a few times this season, including this past weekend, resulting in him receiving a cortisone injection Wednesday. Volpe is out of the lineup for a second straight day Thursday, but the organization doesn't think he'll require a trip to the IL. Jose Caballero is handling shortstop again for the Yanks on Thursday and could share the job with Volpe down the stretch, if not take the gig outright. Volpe will likely undergo another MRI on his shoulder after the season to check on how it has healed. To this point, it does not seem that surgery has been discussed.

Akin earned the save in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Pirates, allowing one hit while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Akin is up to five saves this season, with two coming since the start of September. The left-hander has pitched well of late, working to a 1.88 ERA in his last 12 appearances (14.1 innings). Akin and Yennier Cano should continue to share closing duties down the stretch. Through 57.1 innings this season, Akin sports a 3.14 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 54 strikeouts.

Povich did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Pirates, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.

After giving up a two-out run in the first inning, Povich managed to hold Pittsburgh to just one additional tally over his final 4.2 frames, which came on an Alexander Canario homer in the third. It's been an up-and-down year overall for Povich, though he's posted a respectable 4.43 ERA in his last eight appearances (40.2 innings) while striking out 45 in that span. Povich is tentatively in line to face the White Sox on the road his next time out.

The Tigers optioned Sommers to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

The 25-year-old lefty joined the big-league bullpen Tuesday when Bailey Horn went on the paternity list and will now head back to the minors following the latter's return. Sommers has given up six earned runs in just three MLB innings this year, but he's put himself in a position to audition for next year's Opening Day bullpen by turning in a 3.03 ERA and 1.08 WHIP through 35.2 frames in Triple-A.

The Tigers reinstated Horn from the paternity list Thursday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Horn will reclaim a middle-relief role in the Tigers' bullpen after spending two days away from the team for the birth of his child. Drew Sommers was sent back to Triple-A Toledo in a corresponding move.

McKinstry (back) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

McKinstry will miss a third consecutive start due to a back issue that flared up shortly before Tuesday's contest. Javier Baez will pick up a start at shortstop and bat ninth while McKinstry recovers.

Frazier is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest in Cleveland.

Frazier has now started just two of the last five games and one of three contests since Jonathan India returned from the injured list. India will cover second base and Mike Yastrzemski will be in left field Thursday as Frazier begins the game on the bench.

Volpe (shoulder) isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Volpe recently received a cortisone shot in his left shoulder to treat the shoulder injury that has been bothering him since May, so it isn't too surprising to see him heading to the bench for the start of Thursday's contest. Jose Caballero will start at shortstop in Volpe's place and bat eighth.
