The Royals placed Massey on the 7-day concussion injured list Thursday.

Massey sat out Wednesday's game after he fell and hit his head while making a throw to first base during Tuesday's contest, and he'll officially remain out of action for at least a week after being diagnosed with a concussion. Tyler Tolbert figures to take over as Kansas City's primary second baseman while Massey is sidelined, and Josh Rojas will come up from Triple-A to replenish the team's infield depth.

Gimenez is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Royals.

The left-handed-hitting Gimenez will get a breather as the Royals send southpaw Noah Cameron to the hill. Ernie Clement will slide over to shortstop, and Charles McAdoo will grab a start at second base.

Chisholm went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run, an RBI and a stolen base in a 9-3 win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Chisholm was a key part of a Yankees offensive barrage that included 13 hits and nine runs. After beginning August with a .148 batting average over his first 17 games, Chisholm has come alive at the plate of late, collecting three multi-hit efforts over his past four contests and slashing .571/.625/.929 with one homer, two doubles, four RBI and three stolen bases during that span. He's been as good on the basepaths as ever this year with 36 thefts through 123 games, though Chisholm's current .708 OPS is on pace for a career-worst mark (excluding his brief 21-contest cup of coffee during his first taste of the big leagues in 2020).

Garcia went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run and two additional runs in a 9-3 victory versus Houston on Wednesday.

Garcia put the finishing touches on an emphatic New York win with his two-run blast to right field in the eighth inning. It was the infielder's second straight game with a long ball, and he's now gone deep four times across his past six contests. Garcia has slashed an incredible .524/.583/1.143 during that span, so he's as hot as any player in baseball at the moment. He's up to 28 homers and 87 runs batted in on the campaign, with the RBI mark good for seventh-most in the majors.

Miller was available to pitch out of the bullpen but did not appear in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.

Wednesday's starter, Bryan Woo, was making the start after missing his previous turn with shoulder soreness, so the Mariners wanted to have Miller available as protection on his bullpen day, if needed. However, according to Jude, while no one has approached Miller about a permanent move to the bullpen, it's something that's being considered. Seattle is currently operating with a six-man rotation following the promotion of Kade Anderson, but shifting Miller to relief and reverting to a five-man setup is possible. After posting a 2.18 ERA and 65:9 K:BB over 57.2 innings in the first half, Miller has logged a 7.18 ERA and 27:16 K:BB across 36.1 second-half frames. His next turn comes up Sunday in Toronto, but Seattle has yet to announce its probable pitchers for this weekend.

The White Sox optioned Nishida to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.

Nishida was on the active roster for a couple days but did not appear in a game. He's clearing off the roster to make space for Andrew Benintendi (bereavement), who will be reinstated prior to Friday's contest in Minnesota.

The White Sox optioned Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.

Cannon registered a three-inning save in Wednesday's win over the Rangers. He threw 66 pitches over his three innings, however, so he was not going to be available to pitch for at least a couple days. Tyler Davis is grabbing Cannon's spot on the roster.

The White Sox recalled Davis from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.

Davis has made 24 appearances out of the Chicago bullpen this season, logging a 4.10 ERA and 22:15 K:BB over 26.1 frames. The righty will provide a fresh arm in middle relief.

Schanuel (intercostal) was spotted taking part in agility work on the field prior to Wednesday's game against the Guardians, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Though Schanuel hasn't yet been cleared for full baseball activities since landing on the injured list Saturday due to a right intercostal strain, his presence on the field suggests that he hasn't been shut down entirely. A clearer timeline for Schanuel's return should come into focus once he's resumed taking part in batting practice, baserunning and fielding drills. Vaughn Grissom will likely continue to see the bulk of the reps at first base while Schnauel is out.

Follow-up imagining on Mead's fractured left wrist came back clean Monday, and the infielder has been cleared to begin mobility exercises and progress toward strength work, MLB.com reports.

Mead has been able to transition out of the cast he was wearing to protect his injured hand and is now donning a splint. Though he's not yet ready to take part in full baseball activities, ditching the cast at least represents a step forward in the recovery process. The 25-year-old would still appear to have a chance at making it back from the injured list around mid-to-late September.
