Cantillo has joined the Guardians in Boston and is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start Wednesday's game versus the Red Sox, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Logan Allen had been lined up to start Wednesday, but it's not clear whether he'll be pushed back in the schedule or moved to the bullpen. Cantillo posted a 6.52 ERA and 12:4 K:BB over 9.2 innings in his two starts with Columbus after being demoted last month. He's collected a 3.93 ERA and 80:36 K:BB over 66.1 frames covering eight starts and 21 relief appearances in the majors this season.

Ward (forehead) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Kansas City.

Ward will miss a second straight start after he had to exit Sunday's game in Houston following a collision with the outfield wall that resulted in a laceration above his right eye. Per Erica Weston of Bally Sports West, Ward is feeling much better Tuesday and plans to hit off a tee and play catch. He remains optimistic that he'll be back in the lineup soon but added that the ultimate decision will be up to the medical staff.

Alvarez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

It's the second day off Alvarez has received since he returned from the 60-day injured list a week ago, as the Astros don't want to overload him following a long absence. Yainer Diaz is in the designated hitter spot and Jose Altuve is playing left field Tuesday.

Abreu (calf) has yet to resume running at full effort as of Tuesday, MLB.com reports.

Abreu had intended to try running Monday, but he didn't receive medical clearance to do so. The outfielder still expects to resume running at some point later this week but is waiting for the go-ahead from trainers. With Abreu's recovery from a right calf strain going more slowly than anticipated, he appears unlikely to return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the week.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday that May will be available out of the bullpen this week, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.

The Red Sox want to keep the rest of their starting pitchers on turn following Thursday's off day, so May will be available to pitch in relief, if needed. He will rejoin the rotation next week, likely during the series against the Athletics. May has been hit or miss during his five starts with Boston, posting a 5.68 ERA and 25:11 K:BB over 25.1 innings.

Meidroth (ankle) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Minnesota.

Meidroth had to be lifted from Monday's game with a right ankle sprain. He is considered day-to-day. Lenyn Sosa will cover second base for the White Sox on Tuesday while Meidroth recuperates.

Kayfus is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Boston.

It's southpaw Garrett Crochet toeing the slab for the Red Sox, so the left-handed-hitting Kayfus will grab a seat. Kyle Manzardo is at first base and Jhonkensy Noel is in right field as the Guardians look to even the series.

Naylor is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Boston.

The Red Sox are sending lefty ace Garrett Crochet to the hill, so it's a good time for the left-handed-hitting Naylor to get a breather. Austin Hedges will do the catching and bat ninth for the Guardians.

Arias (hand) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game in Boston.

The expectation had been that Arias would return to action Tuesday, but instead he will miss a fourth straight start with a right hand contusion. Brayan Rocchio will again handle shortstop, while Angel Martinez will step in at second base.

Baez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Mets.

Baez has now started just three of the last eight games and two of the last seven versus right-handed pitching. He's slashing .224/.229/.308 with a 1:36 BB:K in the second half. Trey Sweeney will play shortstop and Wenceel Perez will be in center field for the Tigers on Tuesday.
