  • Matt Vierling CF | DET

Tigers' Matt Vierling: Left out of starting nine

Vierling is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins.

Vierling will head to the bench after having gone hitless in eight at-bats over his last three games, dropping his average to .208 through 188 plate appearances on the season. Zach McKinstry will get the nod in center field in place of Vierling on Wednesday.

  • Orioles' Enrique Bradfield: Back from injured list

Triple-A Norfolk reinstated Bradfield (hand) from the 7-day injured list Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

The 24-year-old landed on the injured list due to a left hand injury in late April, but he's back in action at Triple-A after a 10-game rehab assignment in the lower minors. Bradfield went 0-for-4 with a strikeout in his first game back with Norfolk on Tuesday and has a .658 OPS through 61 plate appearances at Triple-A this year.

  • Raynel Delgado 3B | HOU

Astros' Raynel Delgado: Traded to Astros

The Astros acquired Delgado from the Rays on Wednesday in exchange for cash considerations, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Delgado has put together a .250/.320/.362 batting line with three homers and 24 steals this season at Triple-A Durham while seeing playing time at shortstop, second base and third base. The 26-year-old will report to Triple-A Sugar Land, where he will give Houston additional infield depth.

  • Austin Wells C | NYY

Yankees' Austin Wells: Cleared for baseball activities

Wells (head) will resume baseball activities at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.

Wells did not accompany the Yankees on their road trip, but he's been cleared for activities after concussion tests and an MRI came back negative. The catcher was placed on the 10-day injured list this past weekend due to cervical headaches, but he looks to be tracking toward a return when first eligible June 16.

  • Logan Porter C | LAA

    Angels' Logan Porter: Call-up imminent

The Angels are expected to call up Porter from Triple-A Salt Lake on Wednesday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.

The transaction won't be made official until shortly before the Angels' game against the Astros later Wednesday, but Porter could be joining the big club as a replacement on the active roster for fellow catcher Sebastian Rivero, who exited Tuesday's 10-1 win with a left hand injury. The 30-year-old Porter saw action in five games at the big-league level with the Giants in 2025 but had played exclusively with San Francisco's Triple-A affiliate in Sacramento this season, producing a .654 OPS across 65 plate appearances before electing free agency last week. Porter is likely to see limited playing time behind top backstop Logan O'Hoppe while he's up with the Angels.

  • Marcelo Mayer 2B | BOS

Red Sox's Marcelo Mayer: Held out with back/neck stiffness

Mayer is absent from Wednesday's lineup versus the Rays due to back and neck stiffness, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy is hopeful that Mayer will be available to pinch hit. However, with a team off day looming Thursday, the club could elect to stay away from Mayer on Wednesday with the goal of having him return to the lineup Friday, when the Red Sox begin a three-game set against the Rangers.

  • Marcelo Mayer 2B | BOS

Red Sox's Marcelo Mayer: On bench Wednesday

Mayer is out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest at Tampa Bay.

The left-handed-hitting Mayer will get a rare day off versus a right-handed starting pitcher, as the Rays are sending Drew Rasmussen to the bump. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will handle shortstop for the Red Sox, leaving Andruw Monasterio to cover second base.

  • Spencer Jones CF | NYY

Yankees' Spencer Jones: Sitting against southpaw

Jones is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

Jones hit just .167 while striking out at a 44.4 percent clip during a 10-game stint in the majors back in May, but he's gotten off to a nice start since receiving another call-up to New York last week after Aaron Judge's (rib) placement on the injured list. In his four games (three starts) upon rejoining the Yankees, Jones has gone 6-for-12 with two extra-base hits (one home run, one double) and an 0:4 BB:K. The Yankees will hold the left-handed-hitting Jones out of the lineup Wednesday while southpaw Parker Messick takes the hill for Cleveland, but the 25-year-old rookie should be in line for an extended run as a starter versus right-handed pitching so long as he can hit for power and get on base at a steady rate.

  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Yankees' Ryan McMahon: Taking seat against southpaw

McMahon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Guardians.

After going 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a walk while starting at third base in the first two games of the series, the left-handed-hitting McMahon will be held out of the lineup for the finale while southpaw Parker Messick toes the rubber for Cleveland. Amed Rosario will replace McMahon at third base and will bat cleanup.

  • Jake Bennett SP | BOS

Red Sox's Jake Bennett: Recalled to start Wednesday's game

The Red Sox recalled Bennett from Triple-A Worcester on Wednesday, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Bennett will make a start against the Rays on Wednesday at Tropicana Field. The left-hander yielded five earned runs on 11 hits with a 4:4 K:BB in two starts with the Red Sox last month and boasts a 1.49 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 41:9 K:BB in 42.1 innings over 10 starts for Worcester. Bennett could get an opportunity to stick in the rotation for a while until Garrett Crochet (lat) is ready.
