Royals manager Matt Quatraro said Wednesday that Bergert will remain in the rotation and start Sunday against the White Sox, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.

Michael Lorenzen (oblique) will rejoin the rotation Saturday, but it will be Bailey Falter -- and not Bergert -- losing his rotation spot. Bergert has allowed four runs with a 10:3 K:BB over 11.1 innings in his two starts for the Royals and boasts a 2.87 ERA across 13 appearances (nine starts) between San Diego and Kansas City in 2025.

Out since mid-July with a left oblique strain, Lorenzen built up to 85 pitches in his last rehab start, so he should be ready for a normal workload Saturday. Lorenzen has posted a 4.61 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over 99.2 innings for the Royals this season. Bailey Falter has been moved to the bullpen to make room for Lorenzen in the rotation.

Michael Lorenzen (oblique) is ready to rejoin the rotation this weekend, and it's Falter who will shift to relief to accommodate Lorenzen's return. Falter has been pummeled for nine runs on 11 hits and five walks over eight innings in two starts since the Royals acquired him at the trade deadline. The lefty is likely to be used in a mop-up role.

The Tigers optioned Heuer to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Heuer has permitted three runs over 4.2 innings covering three relief outings between the Rangers and Tigers this season. He's being replaced on the roster by Sawyer Gipson-Long, who is back from the injured list.

The Tigers activate Gipson-Long (neck) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Gipson-Long has been shelved since mid-July with a neck injury and had to be pulled off his initial rehab assignment due to continued stiffness. However, he's ready to go now after allowing two runs across 7.1 frames in two rehab appearances this month. Gipson-Long appears slated for a long-relief role for the time being.

Chisholm went 2-for-3 with a triple, two walks, two runs and two stolen bases Tuesday in a 9-1 victory versus the Twins.

Since July 30, Chisholm has stolen multiple bags in a contest three times, and seven of his 17 total thefts have come during that 12-game span. The speedy infielder is batting just .227 during the stretch, but he's added two homers while scoring eight times. Though Chisholm's overall .242 batting average is on pace to be the lowest regular-season mark of his career, his .811 OPS is tracking to be his second-highest career mark, as he's swatted 20 homers and is taking free passes more frequently than ever (11.4 percent walk rate).

Judge went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, an additional run and three walks in Tuesday's 9-1 win over Minnesota.

Judge didn't have many opportunities to swing the bat, as the Twins put him on base three times via walks, one of which was intentional. It's logical that Minnesota would pitch around the slugger after he crushed a 425-foot solo shot in his first plate appearance. Judge had been in somewhat of a slump coming into Tuesday, going seven games without a homer and batting just .182 (4-for-22) during that span. He's still leading all qualified MLB hitters in batting average (.337) and OPS (1.141), though, and is rounding out an MVP-caliber campaign with 38 homers, 88 RBI, 94 runs and seven stolen bases through 110 contests.

Dingler is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.

Dingler started each of the previous six games (five at catcher), so he'll get some rest during Wednesday's matinee. Jake Rogers will do the catching and bat ninth for Detroit.

McKinstry is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the White Sox.

McKinstry has gone 0-for-6 with five strikeouts in the first two games of the series and is slashing only .172/.243/.328 in the second half, so he'll get a day off to regroup. Colt Keith is at third base and batting leadoff for the Tigers.

The White Sox designated Shuster for assignment Wednesday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for left-hander Martin Perez (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list. Shuster has collected a 5.27 ERA over 62 career appearances (17 starts) at the big-league level.
