The White Sox designated Shuster for assignment Wednesday.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for left-hander Martin Perez (elbow), who was activated from the 60-day injured list. Shuster has collected a 5.27 ERA over 62 career appearances (17 starts) at the big-league level.

The White Sox optioned Booser to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.

Booser made a pair of scoreless appearances during his most recent stint in the big leagues, but he will nonetheless be dispatched back to the minors. The lefty reliever holds a 4.85 ERA and 29:14 K:BB over 26 innings this season.

The White Sox activated Perez (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

After being placed on the shelf in late April with a left flexor strain, Perez made two rehab starts, allowing three runs with a 5:3 K:BB over 6.2 innings. The veteran left-hander will be used in relief for the time being, per Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times, although Perez is s a candidate to eventually receive some starts once he gets further stretched out. Perez held a 3.15 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 18:11 K:BB over 20 innings in his first four starts of the season before getting hurt.

Baldwin is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Baldwin has been absent from the lineup for two straight games since Miguel Vargas returned from the injured list, so he could be settling into a reserve role. The White Sox have Andrew Benintendi in left field and Curtis Mead at third base Wednesday.

Melton will start Wednesday's game against the White Sox in Chicago, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Melton was knocked around in his first major-league start July 23 in Pittsburgh but has yielded just one run with an 8:2 K:BB over 12.1 innings covering one start and two relief appearances since then. The righty hasn't made a start in more than two weeks and worked 3.1 innings while tossing 46 pitches in his most recent relief appearance Friday against the Angels. Melton likely won't be asked to handle a full starter's workload against the White Sox and may not reach the five innings he would need to qualify for a win.

Ramirez 3-for-4 with a double and two solo home runs in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Marlins.

His second long ball of the night was a game-winner, as he took Calvin Faucher deep in the eighth inning to snap a 3-3 tie. It was Ramirez's second multi-homer performance of the season and the 27th of his career, moving him into first place on Cleveland's all-time list ahead of Jim Thome and Albert Belle. Ramirez broke out of a 2-for-25 slump with the effort, but he's been mostly locked in since the All-Star break, slashing .289/.385/.611 over his last 23 contests with seven homers, four steals, 13 RBI and 22 runs.

Allen didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 4-3 win over the Marlins, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks over five innings. He struck out five.

The southpaw wasn't sharp, throwing just 53 of 93 pitches for strikes, but Allen kept the Miami offense at bay until the fifth inning, when a two-out walk to Otto Lopez set the stage for a three-run rally that tied the game. After an 11-start stretch in which Allen didn't issue more than two free passes in an outing, he's now walked eight batters in 10 innings over his last two trips to the mound. He'll take a 3.94 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 92:48 K:BB over 118.2 frames into his next start, which is scheduled to come at home this weekend against Atlanta.

While Abreu "would seem a logical choice" to take over as the Astros' closer following the injury to Josh Hader (shoulder), per Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle, manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that he's "not naming (anyone) for the ninth."

Abreu has been phenomenal again this season, collecting a 1.67 ERA and 79:25 K:BB over 54 innings. The right-hander is the best bet to handle most of the save chances for the Astros while Hader is shelved, but Espada seems to be leaning toward more of a committee approach. With Hader unavailable, Bennett Sousa earned his fourth save of the season in Monday's win over the Red Sox. Abreu, Sousa, Steven Okert, Bryan King and Shawn Dubin could all be in the mix for saves for Houston while Hader is out.

Kahnle allowed two runs on two hits and two walks across 1.1 innings of relief in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the White Sox. He struck out two.

Kahnle has allowed at least one run in five of his last six outings, and he has a 9.53 ERA during the rough stretch. Since the start of July, the veteran's ERA is 16.36. Before then, Kahnle was having a nice season with a 1.77 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and 31 strikeouts across his first 35.2 innings of 2025, but he's now sitting with a 5.21 ERA and 1.33 WHIP, and the righty has quickly fallen out of favor in the Detroit bullpen.

Greene went 2-for-4 with a walk and two doubles in Tuesday's 9-6 loss to the White Sox.

Greene has three multi-hit performances over his last five games, and he's gone 7-for-18 overall in that stretch with a home run, three doubles, three RBI and four runs scored. It's a positive development for the talented outfielder, who came out of the All-Star break slowly with a .171 batting average in his first 17 games of the second half. Greene seems to be settling into a groove and could quickly build on his 27 home runs and 87 RBI, both of which are already new career highs.
