  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Out of Yankees' lineup

Stanton is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Cincinnati.

Stanton has been on a two-on, one-off plan since returning from the injured list, and it's his turn to sit out Tuesday after starting the previous two days. Ben Rice is at designated hitter and batting second for the Yankees.

  • Astros' Victor Caratini: Out of lineup Tuesday

Caratini is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Phillies.

Caratini has played more often than not since Yordan Alvarez (hand) was injured, rotating between designated hitter, catcher and occasionally first base. He'll take a seat Tuesday, though, as Jose Altuve serves as the Astros' DH and Yainer Diaz does the catching.

  • Mike Tauchman CF | NYM

White Sox's Mike Tauchman: Returning to lineup

Tauchman (groin) will start at designated hitter and bat leadoff in Tuesday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

Tauchman missed each of the previous four contests with a groin injury but is feeling well enough to serve as a DH on Tuesday. It's not clear when he will be available to play the outfield. Michael Taylor will patrol right field and bat ninth Tuesday.

  • Athletics' Lawrence Butler: Drops from leadoff spot

Butler will start in right field and bat sixth Tuesday against the Tigers.

The right fielder has batted atop the lineup in each of the past 25 games he's played in, but he'll move down to the No. 6 spot Tuesday versus Detroit's ace lefty Tarik Skubal. Butler was plenty productive during that 25-game stretch with eight doubles, four homers and a .297/.360/.495 slash line, so the move down the order is likely a temporary change due to the tough matchup.

  • Cody Bradford SP | TEX

Rangers' Cody Bradford: Will undergo UCL surgery

Bradford will undergo season-ending surgery Wednesday to repair the UCL in his left elbow, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Bradford had appeared close to beginning a rehab assignment, but the Rangers announced that the southpaw encountered a significant setback and will require surgery. It won't be known until the operation whether Bradford will need Tommy John surgery or an internal brace procedure. The latter would give him a better chance of contributing at some point next season, while the former could potentially knock him out until 2027.

  • Royals' Michael Massey: Starting rehab assignment

Massey (ankle) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Massey has been shelved for the past two weeks with a sprained left ankle but is ready for game action. The 27-year-old is slashing a lowly .202/.221/.258 this season, and he had seen his playing time wane before getting hurt.

  • Willi Castro 2B | COL

Twins' Willi Castro: Sitting again Tuesday

Castro (wrist) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Mariners.

The veteran super-utility man hasn't seen the field since Saturday due to the wrist injury, which is an issue he initially played through before exiting the lineup. Castro had X-rays come back negative Sunday, though he'll still sit for a third consecutive game Tuesday. Kody Clemens is starting at second base while Harrison Bader handles left field for Minnesota.

  • Javier Baez SS | DET

Tigers' Javier Baez: Grabbing seat Tuesday

Baez is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Athletics.

The Tigers will go with Trey Sweeney at shortstop in the series opener. It's a routine day off for Baez, who has heated back up lately with a 1.325 OPS and three homers in his last nine tilts.

  • Rays' Chandler Simpson: Return to majors official

The Rays recalled Simpson from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old speedster was optioned to Durham in late May after posting a .285/.315/.317 slash line with no homers, 19 steals, 11 RBI and 17 runs in his first 35 big-league games, and he'll receive another look with the Rays following the demotion of Kameron Misner. Simpson delivered offensively in his first taste of the majors, but he provided poor defense with minus-5 DRS and minus-3 OAA in just 284 defensive innings. He'll provide fantasy managers with a strong average and stolen-base production, though the defense could result in some playing time limitations if he doesn't improve in the field.

  • Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Day off amid slump

Torkelson is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Athletics.

It's the second time in three contests that Torkelson -- who is 4-for-32 over his last nine games -- has been absent from the lineup. Colt Keith is at first base and batting leadoff Tuesday.
