  • Lucas Erceg RP | KC

Royals' Lucas Erceg: To IL with back injury

Erceg was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday with a lower-back strain.

The most recent news was that Erceg was unavailable due to illness, but this back issue is likely the main reason he hasn't pitched since May 24. His IL placement is retroactive to May 27, so he could return June 12 against the Yankees if he misses the minimum amount of time.

  • Seth Lugo SP | KC

Royals' Seth Lugo: Reinstated for Friday's start

Lugo (finger) was activated from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Tigers.

The right-hander landed on the shelf in mid-May due to inflammation in his right middle finger, and he's rejoining Kansas City's rotation without a minor-league rehab assignment. Lugo has continued to be a reliable rotation piece for the Royals early in 2025 with a 3.02 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB across 56.2 innings.

  • Mike Trout CF | LAA

    Angels' Mike Trout: Activated Friday

Trout (knee) was officially reinstated from the injured list prior to Friday's game against the Guardians.

Trout missed nearly all of May with the knee injury, but he'll be back in the lineup for the weekend series in Cleveland. Trout is batting fifth and will be limited to designated hitter initially after not going on a rehab assignment.

  • Alan Roden RF | MIN

Blue Jays' Alan Roden: Back in big leagues

The Blue Jays recalled Roden from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday.

The 25-year-old will return to Toronto as Anthony Santander (shoulder) heads to the 10-day injured list. Roden struggled in his first taste of the majors earlier this season with a .178/.262/.260 slash line in 28 games, but he's been crushing for Triple-A Buffalo with three homers, three steals and a 1.029 OPS in 83 plate appearances.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Out with shoulder inflammation

The Blue Jays placed Santander on the 10-day injured list Friday due to left shoulder inflammation.

The veteran outfielder has gone 0-for-17 with three walks and seven strikeouts in his past five games, and he'll now be sidelined for at least the next 10 days. Santander has been playing through hip and shoulder issues for most of May, and it's his shoulder that ended up sending him to the IL. Alan Roden was called up from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Santander may get a cortisone shot in the coming days, per Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca.

  • Matt Wallner RF | MIN

Twins' Matt Wallner: Should return Saturday

Wallner (hamstring) is expected to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list Saturday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Wallner has been out since mid-April due to a hamstring strain but is just about ready to rejoin the Twins after going 8-for-25 with five homers during a six-game rehab assignment. The 27-year-old had a hot start to the campaign, posting a .263/.373/.474 slash line with five doubles, two triples and a homer in 18 games.

  • Cole Ragans RP | KC

Royals' Cole Ragans: Starting rehab assignment

Ragans (groin) will report to Double-A Northwest Arkansas to begin a rehab assignment Saturday.

The left-hander is eligible to come off the injured list Sunday, but he won't quite be ready to rejoin the Royals. Given the brevity of Ragans' absence, he may only need one outing in the minors before being re-inserted into Kansas City's rotation.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Twins' Byron Buxton: Activated Friday, as expected

The Twins reinstated Buxton (concussion) from the 7-day injured list, and he is starting in center field and batting in the leadoff spot against the Mariners on Friday.

The 31-year-old missed two weeks after sustaining a concussion on a collision with Carlos Correa on May 15, but he's ready to rejoin the active roster after getting in some full workouts this week. Buxton was raking in May prior to the concussion with four homers and a .313/.393/.625 slash line in 13 games.

  • Colton Cowser CF | BAL

Orioles' Colton Cowser: Should return during road trip

Interim manager Tony Mansolino said Friday that Cowser (thumb) is expected to be reinstated from the 60-day injured list during Baltimore's upcoming road trip, which runs June 3-8, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old had his rehab assignment transferred to Triple-A Norfolk this week after three games with High-A Aberdeen, and he should be ready to rejoin the Orioles after a few more minor-league contests. Cowser played just four games this season before fracturing his thumb, and his return will be timely with Cedric Mullins (hamstring), Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) and Ramon Laureano (ankle) also on the shelf.

  • Luis Robert CF | BAL

White Sox's Luis Robert: Good to go Friday

Robert (knee) is starting in center field and batting fifth Friday against the Orioles.

The 27-year-old sat out the previous two games due to knee soreness but is back in the lineup after Thursday's team off day. Robert has a .215/.259/.304 slash line with one homer through 23 games in May, though he's supplied value on the basepaths with nine steals.
