Rice knocked a double in the first frame and later hit a two-run double during the Yankees' 10-run seventh inning. He entered Tuesday's contest in a bit of a cold spell; he'd gone 8-for-46 (.174) with just one multi-hit game over his previous 14 contests, though he hit three homers during that span. Rice bumped his OPS up to .935 with 17 extra-base hits and 15 RBI through 127 plate appearances.

Yankees' Austin Wells: Belts grand slam

Wells went 2-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's win against San Diego.

Wells did all of his damage during the Yankees' massive 10-run seventh inning. He knocked an RBI single, swiped second base and scored a run before coming back to the plate and ripping a grand slam. It was his first multi-hit game since April 27 and his third long ball over his last seven appearances. Wells is slashing .220/.273/.486 with 14 extra-base hits and 23 RBI through 32 games.

  • Yandy Diaz DH | TB

Rays' Yandy Diaz: Battling hip tightness

Diaz exited Tuesday's game against the Phillies early due to right hip tightness, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Diaz suffered the injury during a swing in the sixth inning and wasn't able to finish his at-bat. However, manager Kevin Cash said after the game that the issue isn't anything too serious and expects the 33-year-old to be back in the starting lineup Wednesday.

  • Ryan Jeffers C | MIN

Twins' Ryan Jeffers: Drives in two runs Tuesday

Jeffers went 1-for-4 with a two-run single and a run scored in Tuesday's 9-1 win over the Orioles.

Jeffers gave the Twins a two-run lead in the third inning on a two-run single and came around to score on a Carlos Correa home run. Jeffers started the season slowly but has started to heat up as of late, going 11-for-31 with five runs scored, two home runs and 10 RBI over his last 10 games.

Correa gave the Twins a 5-0 lead in the third inning, when he took Cade Povich deep to left-center field for a two-run blast. Correa added an RBI single in the seventh frame and finished with a season-high three RBI in the blowout win. He has recorded at least two hits in six of his last 10 games, and over that span he has gone 15-for-43 (.349 average) with six runs scored, one home run and six RBI.

  • Kyle Wright SP | CHC

Royals' Kyle Wright: Tosses four innings in rehab start

Wright (shoulder/hamstring) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out four over four innings in his rehab start Friday with Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

Wright made his first appearance in affiliated ball since 2023, as he spent all of last season recovering from right shoulder surgery and then sustained a minor hamstring strain in spring training. Given the time he's missed, Wright could need close to the full 30-day rehab window before the Royals bring him back from the 15-day injured list, though he handled a fairly hefty workload (60 pitches) in his first start. He's scheduled to make his second minor-league start Wednesday.

  • Byron Buxton CF | MIN

Buxton got the scoring started in the third inning with an RBI double to left field, and he extended the Twins' lead to seven runs in the seventh frame with a three-run homer off Matt Bowman. Buxton has smacked a home run in back-to-back games and has reached base safely in each of his last 12 games. Over that span, he has gone 16-for-49 (.327 average) with two stolen bases, nine runs scored, five home runs and 12 RBI.

Lopez set the tone in the first inning by striking out the side, which he also did in the third and fifth. His lone blemish came in the fourth frame, when he yielded an RBI double to Ryan Mountcastle. Lopez finished his outing with 18 whiffs on 98 pitches (58 strikes), and his 11 punchouts were his most since June 23, 2024 against the Athletics (14). He has three quality starts this season with a 2.18 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 37:5 K:BB across 33 innings, and he is lined up to face the Giants at home this weekend.

According to Preston Farr of FarmToFountains.com, Zobac won't require surgery on his knee, but the 24-year-old righty is facing an uncertain timeline for a return.

  • Javier Vaz OF | KC

Royals' Javier Vaz: Move past hand injury

Vaz (fingers) has produced a .238/.304/.262 slash line with zero home runs and three stolen bases in 10 games since being activated from Double-A Northwest Arkansas' 7-day injured list April 22.

Vaz began the campaign on the injured list after fracturing two fingers on his right hand in early March, but he made a speedy recovery and was cleared to make his 2025 debut less than three weeks into the Texas League season. Though he's gotten off to a slow start to the season at the plate, the injury doesn't seem to be affecting him in the field, as he's made eight starts at second base and one in left field.
