Maikel Garcia 3B | KC
Royals' Maikel Garcia: No decision yet on IL stint
Garcia is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers as the Royals await test results on the right hamstring injury he suffered in Saturday's 7-6 loss, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Garcia sustained the injury in the seventh inning Saturday while running the bases and was immediately lifted. At this stage, the 26-year-old appears more likely than not to wind up on the IL, but the Royals are holding out hope that he's dealing with a low-grade strain that may cause him to miss just a few games.

Nick Loftin 3B | KC
Royals' Nick Loftin: Poised to take over at 3B
Loftin will start at third base and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Angels.
Maikel Garcia suffered a hamstring injury Saturday and appears to be trending toward a stint on the injured list. If that's the case, Loftin would stand to be the primary beneficiary. The 27-year-old utility player has walked nearly as often as he's struck out this season with an 8:9 BB:K, but he's a career .219 hitter in the big leagues and has just five home runs and four stolen bases over 168 games.

Taylor Trammell CF | HOU
Astros' Taylor Trammell: Holding down strong side of platoon
Trammell will start in left field and bat cleanup Sunday against the Brewers.
While the left-handed hitter may be shielded from matchups against southpaws, Trammell's been a fixture versus righties since returning from the injured list Tuesday. He'll draw a sixth straight start after going 6-for-18 with two doubles, three runs and two RBI over the prior five games. Trammell could eventually face competition for a regular role in the outfield from Joey Loperfido (quadriceps), who could be activated from the injured list at some point during the upcoming week.

Eric Cerantola RP | SF
Royals' Eric Cerantola: Returns to Omaha
The Royals optioned Cerantola to Triple-A Omaha on Sunday.
Cerantola was called up Friday and will return to Omaha after allowing one run over one inning during his lone appearance. The 26-year-old has posted a 1.37 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB across 19.2 frames at Triple-A this year while serving as the Storm Chasers' primary closer.

Edgar Quero C | CHW
White Sox's Edgar Quero: On bench against righty
Quero is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers.
Quero has been heating up of late at the dish, going 6-for-16 with a home run, three walks, seven runs and five RBI over his last six games. However, he'll head to the bench Sunday for the fourth time in the White Sox's last five matchups against right-handed starters, so he may not have reclaimed primary catching duties from Drew Romo just yet.

Matt Strahm RP | KC
Royals' Matt Strahm: Returns from IL
The Royals reinstated Strahm (knee) from the 15-day injured list Sunday.
The left-hander has been sidelined the past couple weeks due to knee inflammation, but he received an injection to address the injury and is now ready to rejoin the active roster. Strahm has a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB across 16.1 innings while recording eight holds through 17 appearances this year.

Jesus Sanchez RF | TOR
Blue Jays' Jesus Sanchez: Struck by stray ball
Sanchez was removed from Sunday's game against the Orioles after being struck in the wrist by a ball that appeared to be thrown by a fan in the stands, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Sanchez appeared to be talking with someone in the right field seats during a sixth-inning mound visit and was subsequently struck by a ball in the area of his wrist, forcing him to leave the game. The specifics of the injury aren't yet clear. Sanchez was replaced in right field by Yohendrick Pinango.

Gage Workman 3B | DET
Tigers' Gage Workman: Returns to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned Workman to Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.
Workman ended up being the roster casualty when Kerry Carpenter (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday. After being called up from Triple-A on May 10, Workman appeared in 16 games for Detroit but slashed just .158/.158/.553 with a 42.1 percent strikeout rate over 38 plate appearances.

Wade Meckler LF | LAA
Angels' Wade Meckler: Riding pine for series finale
Meckler is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
The left-handed-hitting Meckler had started in each of the Halos' last five games but will head to the bench for the series finale while the Rays send southpaw Shane McClanahan to the bump. Jose Siri will replace Meckler in left field and will bat seventh.

Donovan Walton 3B | LAA
Angels' Donovan Walton: Idle against southpaw
Walton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.
The left-handed hitter had started four of the previous five games but will head to the bench against southpaw Shane McClanahan. Nick Madrigal will check in for Walton at third base and bat ninth.
