Erceg picked up the save Tuesday against the Nationals, pitching a clean inning with two strikeouts.

The Kansas City right-hander made quick work of Washington in the bottom of the tenth inning, firing nine strikes out of his 12 total pitches. Since joining the Royals on July 31, Erceg has been a stalwart, collecting nine saves while pitching to a 3.13 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 29:3 K:BB across 23 innings. • Wenceel Perez RF | DET

Tigers' Wenceel Perez: Drives in runs Tuesday

Perez went 1-for-2 with two walks, a double and two RBI in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Rays.

Perez had the game's key hit, delivering a ground-rule double in the bottom of the fifth inning that plated both Detroit runs. The 24-year-old rookie returned from the injured list on Sept. 12 after missing about a month due to an oblique strain, and he's seemingly settled back in as the team's regular right fielder in the middle of a playoff race. Like many young players, Perez has had some ups and downs during his debut campaign, though he's flashed signs of promise for future seasons.

  • Cole Ragans SP | KC

Royals' Cole Ragans: Punches out six in no-decision

Ragans did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 1-0 win at Washington, pitching six scoreless innings while yielding three hits and three walks. He struck out six.

The Kansas City southpaw picked up his fourth consecutive quality start and 21st overall with this 89-pitch performance. Over that span, Ragans has pitched to a stellar 1.08 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 26:11 K:BB across 25 innings. In total, the 26-year-old has fired 186.1 frames with a 3.14 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 223:67 K:BB this season. He currently lines up to make his last regular-season start at Atlanta this weekend, an outing that will have significant playoff implications.

  • Lane Thomas CF | CLE

Guardians' Lane Thomas: Cracks 15th homer in win

Thomas went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and an additional RBI in Tuesday's 6-1 victory over the Reds.

The Cleveland outfielder hit the team's second homer of the opening frame, smacking a 370-foot, two-run shot off starter Carson Spiers. Thomas later added another RBI in the seventh inning to plate the Guardians' final run of the contest. The 29-year-old has continued to stay hot in September, as he's now hitting .291 (23-for-79) with seven homers, 12 runs scored and 20 RBI across 22 games this month. Overall, Thomas is slashing .241/.313/.408 with 15 homers, 64 runs scored and 63 RBI while going 32-for-46 on steals across 517 plate appearances.

  • Matt Wallner RF | MIN

Twins' Matt Wallner: Exits grabbing left side

Wallner left Tuesday's game against Miami with an apparent injury to his left side after striking out as a pinch hitter, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Wallner struck out and grimaced and grabbed his left side as he walked back to the dugout. Trevor Larnach then replaced him in right field.

  • Tanner Bibee SP | CLE

Guardians' Tanner Bibee: Dazzles in win

Bibee (12-8) earned the win Tuesday versus Cincinnati, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out seven.

The Cleveland starter ended his 2024 regular season on a high note, securing his career-high 12th quality start while requiring only 88 pitches. After failing to secure seven Ks five times in his previous six outings, Bibee reached that mark for the 13th time this season, generating an impressive 16 whiffs. The only blemish on his performance came via an RBI single by Spencer Steer in the fourth. The 25-year-old Bibee has anchored the Guardians' rotation this season with a 3.47 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 187:44 K:BB across 173.2 innings and will feature prominently in the team's upcoming playoff run.

  • Penn Murfee RP | HOU

Astros' Penn Murfee: Throws live BP

Murfee (elbow) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Murfee was pulled off his rehab assignment nearly a month ago after reporting soreness in his surgically repaired right elbow, and he's now worked his way back to facing live hitters. It remains unclear how far away he is from a return to the active roster, though it's worth noting he hasn't yet been ruled out from making another appearance in the regular season.

  • Luis Garcia SP | HOU

    Astros' Luis Garcia: Facing hitters

Garcia (elbow) threw live batting practice Tuesday, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Garcia has already been ruled out for the rest of the season as he continues to work his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent in May 2023. However, the fact he is back to facing hitters after having his throwing program paused in August bodes well for his availability to begin the 2025 campaign.

  • Dustin Harris DH | TEX

Rangers' Dustin Harris: Recalled from Triple-A

The Rangers recalled Harris from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

Harris will reach the majors for the first time in his career after spending the entire season with Round Rock, slashing .272/.355/.391 with 53 RBI across 486 plate appearances. Most of his starts this season have come as an outfielder, but he may be asked to handle third base occasionally until Ezequiel Duran returns from paternity leave.

  • Tyler Mahle SP | TEX

Rangers' Tyler Mahle: Moves to 60-day IL

The Rangers transferred Mahle (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Mahle was already ruled out for the rest of the season earlier in the month, so his move to the 60-day IL will simply create space on the 40-man roster for Matt Duffy, whose contract was selected from Triple-A on Tuesday. Mahle will celebrate his 30th birthday on Sunday, and he figures to be ready for the start of next season.
