  • Yoan Moncada 3B | LAA

Angels' Yoan Moncada: Sitting out third straight game

Moncada is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Moncada will take a seat for a third straight game to close out the season as the Angels go with Luis Rengifo at third base. The 30-year-old Moncada is headed for free agency this winter, and his lack of starts in the final series of the season could be an indication that the Angels aren't interested in re-signing him. Over 289 plate appearances, Moncada has slashed .234/.336/.448 with 12 home runs, 35 RBI and 39 runs.

  • Nolan Schanuel 1B | LAA

Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Resting again Sunday

Schanuel is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Schanuel recently returned from a wrist injury, and though the Angels haven't indicated that he suffered an aggravation of the issue, he'll be held out of the lineup for a second straight game to close out the season. Carter Kieboom will fill in for Schanuel at first base.

  • Angels' Logan O'Hoppe: Receiving rest for finale

O'Hoppe is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

O'Hoppe will take a seat after he started behind the plate each of the Halos' previous three contests. Unless he's needed off the bench to replace starting catcher Sebastian Rivero, O'Hoppe will close out the season with a .214 average, 19 home runs, two stolen bases, 43 RBI and 35 runs across 448 plate appearances.

  • Isaac Paredes 3B | HOU

Astros' Isaac Paredes: Getting Sunday off

Paredes is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

With Houston having been officially eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's action, Paredes and other key regulars will sit for the season finale. Jesus Sanchez will serve as the Astros' designated hitter in place of Paredes, who went 5-for-27 (.185) with one home run, three RBI and two runs while starting eight consecutive games following his Sept. 19 reinstatement from the injured list.

  • Carlos Correa SS | HOU

Astros' Carlos Correa: Sitting out season finale

Correa is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

With Houston having been officially eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's action, Correa and other key regulars will sit for the season finale. Ramon Urias will step in at third base in place of Correa, who rebounded with a .290/.355/.430 slash line, six home runs, 21 RBI and 23 runs in 51 games with the Astros after being acquired from the Twins on July 31.

  • Jose Altuve 2B | HOU

Astros' Jose Altuve: Taking seat Sunday

Altuve is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

With Houston having been officially eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's action, Altuve and other key regulars will sit for the season finale. Brice Matthews will step in at second base in place of Altuve, who has hit .265 with 26 home runs, 10 stolen bases, 77 RBI and 80 runs over 155 games on the campaign.

  • Jeremy Pena SS | HOU

Astros' Jeremy Pena: Shelved to end season

The Astros placed Pena (oblique) on the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Pena had sat out the Astros' last six games due to a left oblique strain, and with Houston officially getting eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's action, he won't be called on to play in Sunday's season finale. The Astros recalled outfielder Jacob Melton from Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move, but the team hasn't suggested that Pena's oblique strain will affect his offseason plans. The shortstop put together his best campaign in the majors so far, besting his previous career high in OPS by 125 points.

  • Astros' Christian Walker: Idle for season finale

Walker is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

With Houston having been officially eliminated from playoff contention following Saturday's action, Walker and other key regulars will sit for the season finale. Victor Caratini will step in at first base in place of Walker, who has hit .238 with 27 home runs, two stolen bases, 88 RBI and 72 runs over 154 games during his first campaign in Houston.

  • Jacob Melton LF | TB

Astros' Jacob Melton: Recalled to start in finale

The Astros recalled Melton from Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday. He'll start in center field and bat ninth in the season finale versus the Angels.

With one game remaining in the season and the Astros having been officially eliminated from playoff contention, Melton will join Houston after shortstop Jeremy Pena (oblique) was placed on the injured list. Over 73 plate appearances with the big club this season, Melton has slashed .149/.219/.179 with a 38.4 percent strikeout rate.

  • Trevor Larnach LF | MIN

Twins' Trevor Larnach: Idle against southpaw

Larnach is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.

He'll close out the campaign with consecutive absences against southpaws. With Larnach on the bench Sunday, Ryan Jeffers will serve as the Twins' designated hitter.
