Valera is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rays, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

The 25-year-old was out of the lineup for the previous two games, but the Guardians went up against a lefty in both of those contests. Right-hander Nick Martinez is pitching Tuesday for the Rays, but Valera still finds himself on the bench amid a poor start to the season that's seen him bat .222 (8-for-36) with three doubles and no homers through 12 games. Angel Martinez is receiving a fifth straight start in the outfield while Daniel Schneemann starts in center field with top prospect Travis Bazzana making his MLB debut at second base.

Bazzana will start at second base and bat seventh in Tuesday's game versus the Rays in his major-league debut.

Bazzana will have a chance to work his way up higher in the batting order if he gets off to a hot start, but he'll open up in the lower third of the lineup. The 23-year-old was called up earlier Tuesday after slashing .287/.422/.511 with two home runs, 10 RBI, eight stolen bases and 18 runs scored over his first 24 contests with Triple-A Columbus.

Young is slated to start Thursday's game against the Astros at Camden Yards.

Young will end up sticking around with the Orioles for a second turn through the rotation after he was called up from Triple-A Norfolk last week in the wake of Dean Kremer (quadriceps) landing on the injured list. While stepping into Kremer's spot in the rotation Friday, Young earned a win while striking out five Red Sox batters and allowing three earned runs on seven hits and one walk. With Kremer due to miss multiple weeks, Young should have a decent amount of leash in the rotation so long as he continues to perform adequately.

The Royals signed Gose to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday.

Gose last pitched in the majors in 2024, when he made three appearances for Cleveland and allowed five earned runs over 4.1 frames. The left-hander split last season between the Mets and Diamondbacks organizations and had a combined 4.62 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 41:23 K:BB across 37 Triple-A innings.

The Guardians optioned Brito to Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

Brito didn't do much during his first stint in the majors, slashing .176/.250/.255 with a 30.4 percent strikeout rate. He's exiting the roster to clear space for the arrival of Travis Bazzana, who will take over as Cleveland's starting second baseman.

The Guardians selected Bazzana's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Tuesday.

News broke Monday night about Bazzana's impending promotion, and the transaction is now official. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 First-Year Player Draft, Bazzana has earned a promotion after slashing .287/.422/.511 with two home runs, 10 RBI, eight stolen bases and 18 runs scored over his first 24 contests with Columbus. Bazzana will take over as the Guardians' primary second baseman.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday during his appearance on Jomboy Media's"Talkin' Yanks" podcast that Rodriguez will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make his major-league debut Wednesday versus the Rangers.

Rodriguez is taking over the rotation spot vacated by Luis Gil, who was sent down to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this past weekend. Rodriguez, a 22-year-old right-hander, has gotten off to a superb start in the minors this season, posting a 1.27 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 20:7 K:BB over 21.1 innings at Triple-A. Rodriguez could receive an additional start next week but is unlikely to stick in the majors for the long haul, as the Yankees are due to get both Carlos Rodon (elbow) and Gerrit Cole (elbow) back from the injured list within the next few weeks.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday during an appearance on Jomboy Media's "Talkin' Yanks" podcast that Schuemann will be recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to take the roster spot of the injured Giancarlo Stanton (calf).

Schuemann has slashed .203/.362/.297 with one home run, six stolen bases and a 16:16 BB:K in 23 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. The utility player could be around for only a few days, as Anthony Volpe (shoulder) has a good chance to be activated from the injured list later this week.

Mayer went 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 5-0 win over Toronto.

Mayer's bat has come around over the last week. His batting average stood at .173 through the first 18 games played, but he's up to .243 with an 8-for-18 stretch that includes three doubles and four RBI over the last seven contests. All of his starts have come against right-handers, but interim manager Chad Tracy said Monday that he's open to giving Mayer opportunities against left-handers, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.

Narvaez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 5-0 win over the Blue Jays.

Narvaez clocked his second home in three games to extend a hit streak to six consecutive contests. During that run, the catcher is 7-for-20 with four extra-base hits, three RBI, one steal and three runs. The offensive push comes at a time when there was chatter about backup Connor Wong possibly grabbing more starts, but Narvaez remains the team's primary catcher, while Wong has gone 1-for-12 over his last four starts.
