Carroll (back) is expected to start in right field for Tuesday's series opener against the White Sox, Alex D'Agostino of SI.com reports.

Carroll left Sunday's 10-4 loss to the Blue Jays in the fifth inning with lower-back tightness, but he appears to have avoided a significant injury. Manager Torey Lovullo stated after the game that the outfielder will be good to go for Tuesday's matchup with Chicago, putting to bed any concerns about Carroll's long-term outlook. Carroll finished his day at the plate 0-for-2 with a strikeout, bringing an end to his three-game hit streak, but he's still batting .333 with a home run, eight RBI, 10 runs scored and two stolen bases over his last 11 contests.

Assad did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Mets, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with three strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Assad allowed a solo homer in the fifth inning but was otherwise strong, departing one out shy of a quality start at 82 pitches. The 28-year-old has sandwiched two solid efforts around a nine-run blowup Monday, leaving him with a 5.74 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 9:4 K:BB across 15.2 innings. With Matthew Boyd (biceps) expected to return from the injured list next week, it's unclear what Assad's role will be moving forward.

Miller (back) is nearing a return to swinging a bat, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.

Miller has been "doing everything except for swinging," according to Phillies manager Rob Thomson, including fielding ground balls. The team is hoping to get the 21-year-old back swinging a bat this week as he continues to work his way back from lower-back soreness, which has plagued him since February.

Peterson did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Cubs, allowing three hits and no walks with one strikeout over 3.2 scoreless innings.

Peterson made his first relief appearance of the season and kept the Cubs in check despite throwing just 26 of 47 pitches for strikes. It was his first encouraging effort since a scoreless season debut, as he entered Sunday having allowed 14 earned runs over his previous three outings. On the year, the southpaw now owns a 5.40 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB across 23.1 innings. If he slides back into the rotation, he'd line up for a favorable home matchup against the Rockies next weekend.

Williams blew the save in Sunday's 2-1 extra-inning loss to the Cubs, allowing one run on two hits while striking out three in the ninth inning.

Williams was tasked with preserving a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning but allowed a game-tying double with one out before striking out the next two batters he faced. It marked his first blown save in a Mets uniform, though he's now allowed runs in back-to-back outings. On the year, the 31-year-old is 2-for-3 in save chances with a 7.11 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB across 6.1 innings.

The Nationals optioned Alvarez to Triple-A Rochester after Sunday's 3-0 win over the Giants.

Alvarez was called up from Rochester ahead of Sunday's series finale and played a pivotal role while working out of the bullpen. The southpaw tossed the final 4.1 innings of the team's combined shutout of the Giants, allowing three hits while striking out five en route to earning the win. Alvarez posted a 2.31 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 20 strikeouts over 23.1 innings in five starts with the Nationals in 2025, and considering how well he pitched Sunday, he likely won't have to wait long for another shot with the big-league club. In the meantime, Alvarez will slot back into the rotation at Rochester.

Carroll is dealing with lower-back tightness after leaving Sunday's contest against Toronto in the fifth inning, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Carroll appeared to be in some discomfort while in the field after striking out swinging in the bottom of the third frame, and it is now understood to be the result of a lower-back issue. With Arizona trailing 10-1, there was no reason for the team to keep the outfielder in the game Sunday. More information on his status moving forward will likely be provided ahead of Monday's team day off.

Carroll exited Sunday's contest against the Blue Jays in the fifth inning due to an undisclosed issue, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Carroll was replaced in right field by Jorge Barrosa to open the top of the fifth inning. It's unclear what exactly forced Carroll to exit early, but the outfielder did appear to come up lame after striking out in his final at-bat of the day in the bottom of the third inning. An official diagnosis and status update will likely come in the near future.

Reynolds went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Rays.

It was Reynolds' fourth multi-RBI effort of the season already. The corner outfielder entered Sunday in a brief 0-for-13 dry spell over his past four appearances, so it was a breakout performance of sorts as well. Reynolds is off to a fine start overall in 2026, slashing a healthy .266/.392/.418 with five extra-base hits, 15 RBI, 15 runs scored and 16 walks through his first 97 plate appearances.

Keller (2-1) notched the win Sunday against the Rays, allowing two runs on five hits and no walks in seven innings. He struck out five.

It was perhaps a season-best performance by the right-hander, who recorded season-high figures in innings and strikeouts. Keller has done a fine job of providing length for the Pirates so far in 2026, tossing at least six innings in four of his five starts. He'll bring a strong 2.79 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB over his first 29 frames into his next outing, which is currently projected to come against the division-rival Brewers.
