Carson Kelly C | CHC
Cubs' Carson Kelly: Doubles, scores in win
Kelly went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Rays.
Kelly extended his hitting streak to four games with the multi-hit effort, and he's now batting .281 for the season with a .705 OPS. The veteran catcher has appeared in 10 games so far, with Miguel Amaya appearing in seven. Kelly has the slight edge for playing time at the moment, though the Cubs can get both bats in the lineup by having one or the other serve as the DH and relying on Moises Ballesteros to serve as the backup behind the plate.

Nico Hoerner 2B | CHC
Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Hits leadoff home run Wednesday
Hoerner went 3-for-5 with a double, a solo home run, an additional run scored and two total RBI in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Rays.
Hoerner has been hot to start the season, and for the second straight day, the Cubs rewarded the speedy infielder by batting him leadoff. It was also the second straight game that he batted first despite facing a righty starter, bumping Michael Busch down in the order. Hoerner responded Wednesday with a leadoff home run, which was his first long ball of the year. As long as Hoerner stays locked in at the plate, he figures to stick as Chicago's leadoff hitter against both righties and lefties for the foreseeable future.

Yairo Padilla SS | STL
Cardinals' Yairo Padilla: Sidelined at Single-A
Single-A Palm Beach placed Padilla on the 7-day injured list with a shoulder strain, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.
Padilla has consistently been around 20 percent better than league average while stealing 46 bases in 73 games at the rookie level across his age-17 and age-18 seasons. The switch hitter won't turn 19 until around midseason and has hit only one home run in pro ball, but if he grows into even fringe-average power, the rest of his tools (above-average hit, speed, defense) could carry him to an everyday shortstop role in time.

Geraldo Perdomo SS | ARI
Diamondbacks' Geraldo Perdomo: Ends drought
Perdomo went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Mets.
Perdomo's first-inning single snapped an 0-for-13 run. Following a breakout in 2025 when he had 20 home runs and 100 RBI, Perdomo's scuffled to open this season. He's slashing .179/.277/.308 with four RBI through 12 games; at this point last season, the shortstop slashed .293/.347/.415 with 12 RBI.

Yordany De Los Santos SS | PIT
Pirates' Yordany De Los Santos: To 7-day IL
High-A Greensboro placed De Los Santos on the 7-day injured list April 4 with an undisclosed injury.
The 21-year-old infielder hit .375 with a home run and two steals in two games prior to suffering the injury. De Los Santos logged a .699 OPS in 116 games at Single-A in 2025.

J.D. Thompson SP | MIL
Brewers' J.D. Thompson: Pro debut delayed
Thompson has not been assigned to a minor-league affiliate as he recovers from a hamstring strain, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.
He suffered the injury in spring training and should join High-A Wisconsin around the start of May. Thompson was a polished left-handed starter in the SEC, and there's a chance the Brewers might be able to improve his stuff with pro instruction.

Miles Mikolas RP | WAS
Nationals' Miles Mikolas: Losing ways continue
Mikolas (0-3) took the loss Wednesday against the Cardinals, allowing two runs on five hits and three walks in three innings. He struck out three.
Facing his former club, Mikolas didn't last very long to add to his woes in the early going. The veteran right-hander had coughed up a staggering 15 runs across his first 9.1 innings prior to Wednesday, and the Nationals decided that they'd seen enough following just 55 pitches from Mikolas on Wednesday. A relatively manageable assignment against the Pirates awaits Mikolas for his next start, but his 12.41 ERA, 2.35 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB make him a fantasy option to avoid until he gains some form of traction.

Michael McGreevy SP | STL
Cardinals' Michael McGreevy: Six innings of one-run ball in win
McGreevy (1-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Nationals, allowing one run on four hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out one.
McGreevy hardly boasted dominant stuff -- he posted just five whiffs en route fanning a lone batter -- but he kept the Washington bats guessing all afternoon. The right-hander induced a whopping 11 groundouts, also scattering four singles for his second start of the year of six innings with one run or fewer allowed. McGreevey owns a promising 2.16 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 10:2 K:BB across 16.2 innings, and he has a fairly soft matchup against Cleveland slated for his next outing.

Rafael Devers 1B | SF
Giants' Rafael Devers: Busts out for season-high four RBI
Devers went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI in Wednesday's win over the Phillies.
It was a breakout performance by Devers, who entered the day with just two RBI on the campaign. The homer was his second of the year so far, and the All-Star slugger tied a season high in total bases. Devers is working his way through a slow start, which has seen him bat just .220 with three extra-base hits and four walks over 50 at-bats.

Tyler Mahle SP | ATL
Giants' Tyler Mahle: Rebounds in scoreless start
Mahle took a no-decision Wednesday against the Phillies, allowing no runs on three hits and four walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out six.
Mahle scattered three singles in what was an impressive bounce-back start versus a potent Philadelphia lineup. The right-hander had given up seven runs over his first nine innings before Wednesday's performance, though the Phillies did make the hurler work while drawing four walks on the afternoon. Mahle's 4.30 ERA through 14.2 innings still has room for improvement, and he'll also carry a shaky 1.57 WHIP into an unfavorable setting his next out at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park versus the Reds.
