The Nationals claimed Kent off waivers from the Twins on Sunday and optioned him to Triple-A Rochester.

Kent has bounced around aplenty over the last six months, with Washington now marking the fifth different stop for the righty reliever during that stretch. Though Kent will head to Triple-A, a strong showing in his initial appearances with Rochester could put him on the fast track to a Washington bullpen lacking in dependable arms.

Atlanta outrighted Payamps to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday after he cleared waivers.

The right-hander was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Friday, but he'll remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Payamps has surrendered seven earned runs over 7.2 innings during his time in the big leagues this year.

Nationals manager Blake Butera said after Sunday's 3-2 win over the Brewers that Garcia will undergo an MRI on his sore right wrist Monday, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Garcia went 0-for-2 with a strikeout before he was lifted from Sunday's contest in advance of the sixth inning. The MRI should provide more clarity on the severity of the wrist injury, which Butera said that Garcia sustained while swinging the bat rather than playing the field.

Betts (oblique) is focusing on increasing his swing speed and is getting closer to kicking off a minor-league rehab assignment, MLB.com reports.

Betts has been stuck on the injured list since April 5 due to a right oblique strain. He had a brief setback in late April but seems to be back on track. Though he'll need some time in the minors to knock off rust before he's activated, Betts could still be back with the big-league club before the middle of May.

Sheets is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

The left-handed-hitting Sheets will hit the bench for the series finale while the White Sox send southpaw Anthony Kay to the bump. Ty France will fill in for Sheets as the Friars' starter at first base.

Campusano is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the White Sox.

Though he'll be taking a seat for the series finale, Campusano may have edged ahed of Freddy Fermin on the depth chart at catcher. Campusano had started in each of the Padres' last four matchups with right-handed pitchers, going 3-for-14 with a pair of extra-base hits and a walk during that span. For the season, Campusano is now maintaining a .972 OPS over 54 plate appearances.

Snell (shoulder) completed four innings in a rehab outing with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, allowing two earned runs on two hits and one walk while striking out four batters.

Snell threw 55 pitches (37 strikes), and his fastball topped out at 97.4 miles per hour. He served up a two-run home run in the first inning but didn't give up any hits thereafter. Snell is through three rehab appearances spanning eight total innings, during which he has given up four runs (three earned) while posting a 10:2 K:BB. Per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register, Snell is expected to make one more rehab start and will aim for five innings and 75 pitches in that outing.

Alvarez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Angels.

Luis Torrens will receive the nod behind the plate for the matinee contest while Alvarez rests. Alvarez made starts in the first two games of the series, going 2-for-9 with a run and an RBI.

Wagner (oblique) began a minor-league rehab stint with Triple-A El Paso on Friday and went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run in his first game.

Wagner landed on the injured list in late March due to a strained right oblique that caused him to miss most of the Padres' spring slate. It's unclear how long he'll be with El Paso, but given that he appeared in only five Cactus League contests and that San Diego doesn't have an immediate obvious opening on its roster, Wagner may be given plenty of time to ramp back up.

The Padres placed Marquez on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right forearm nerve irritation.

Marquez surrendered seven runs over five innings in his most recent start Friday against the White Sox and will now spend at least the next couple weeks on the IL. Griffin Canning (Achilles) was reinstated from the IL in a corresponding move and will take Marquez's spot in the rotation beginning with Sunday's series finale versus Chicago.
