  • Corbin Carroll RF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Supplies lone offense in loss

Carroll went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 loss to the Reds.

Carroll gave the Diamondbacks an early lead with a first-inning homer, but for a second consecutive game, the team couldn't take advantage of its opportunities. Arizona was 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position and left 12 runners on base. For Carroll, the home run was his 12th of the season and fifth in the last 11 contests.

  • Diamondbacks' Lourdes Gurriel: Will be reassessed

Gurriel (hamstring) is expected to be reassessed after playing rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex Leage on Friday and Saturday, MLB.com reports.

Gurriel has played five of the last six days in the ACL, switching between left field and designated hitter. His addition will create a crowded outfield around Corbin Carroll, with Jordan Lawlar, Ryan Waldschmidt and Tommy Troy all vying for playing time.

  • Samad Taylor LF | SD

Padres' Samad Taylor: Pops first career homer

Taylor went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in Saturday's 9-3 win over the Orioles.

Getting his sixth straight start in left field and batting sixth, Taylor took Trey Gibson deep in the first inning for a two-run shot before adding an RBI single in the fifth. While the long ball was his first in the majors in his 45th game, Taylor has hit safely in all six of those starts, batting .409 (9-for-22) during that hot streak with a double, two steals, four runs and eight RBI. With Miguel Andujar (hamstring) having joined Ramon Laureano (hip) on the IL, the door is open for the 27-year-old Taylor to lock down a starting spot in a big-league outfield for the first time since he made his debut with the Royals in 2023. He has little left to prove in the minors -- over 188 Triple-A games the last two seasons between El Paso and Tacoma in the Mariners' system, Taylor is batting .302 with 24 home runs and 53 stolen bases in 64 attempts.

  • Padres' Randy Vasquez: Plenty of support in sixth win

Vasquez (6-4) picked up the win Saturday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings in a 9-3 victory over the Orioles. He struck out five.

The right-hander tossed an inefficient 100 pitches (68 strikes) before being replaced to begin the sixth inning, but a four-run first for the Padres gave Vasquez a comfortable cushion before he even got to the mound. The win was Vasquez's first since May 15, and that was also the last time he completed six innings -- over his last five outings, he's stumbled to a 5.63 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB in 24 frames. He'll look to build on this performance in his next start, which is set to come on the road next weekend against the Rangers.

  • Jhoan Duran RP | PHI

Phillies' Jhoan Duran: Secures 18th save

Duran tossed a perfect inning and earned the save in Saturday's win over the Brewers. He struck out one.

Duran is on the verge of reaching at least 20 saves for the fourth consecutive season, and he should be able to hit that mark before the All-Star break. One of the best closers in the National League, Duran has gone 18-for-19 in save chances while posting a 1.90 ERA and 0.97 WHIP across 23.2 innings and 25 appearances this season.

  • Blaze Jordan 3B | STL

Cardinals' Blaze Jordan: Belts first career homer

Jordan went 2-for-4 with a triple, a three-run home run and a second run scored in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Twins.

After a 2-for-4 performance in his big-league debut Friday with a pair of singles, Jordan began flashing his power potential Saturday, leading off the second inning with a triple before crushing a Travis Adams fastball 418 feet to center field in the seventh inning to cap a five-run, three-homer frame for the Cardinals. Jordan was slashing .313/.373/.548 over 57 Triple-A games when he got the call to the majors, and the 23-year-old is making a strong early claim to the starting job at third base.

  • Ivan Herrera DH | STL

Cardinals' Ivan Herrera: Goes yard twice in Saturday's win

Herrera went 2-for-3 with a walk, two home runs and three RBI in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Twins.

The 26-year-old catcher snapped an 18-game power drought with his first multi-homer performance of the season, as he launched a two-run homer off Connor Prielipp in the first inning and a solo blast in the seventh off Justin Lawrence. Herrera has been an on-base machine so far in June, batting .324 (12-for-37) over the last 10 games with a .479 OBP fueled by six walks and five HBPs. That surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .270/.400/.437 with nine homers, three steals, 31 RBI and 46 runs in 68 contests.

  • Cardinals' Matthew Liberatore: Squanders early lead

Liberatore didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Twins, giving up four runs on five hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

The Cardinals gave the southpaw an early 4-0 lead after two innings, but Liberatore served up a trio of long balls in the third and fourth frames to tie it up, eventually getting lifted in the fifth after 70 pitches (46 strikes). It's the first time since April 25 he's been taken deep multiple times in a start, but Liberatore's been shaky over the last month even when keeping the ball in the yard, stumbling to a 5.65 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 36:11 K:BB through 28.2 innings over his last six outings. He'll look to bounce back in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week in Kansas City.

  • Michael Busch 1B | CHC

Cubs' Michael Busch: Steals home Saturday

Busch went 1-for-3 with a double, two walks, one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Giants.

Ian Happ's steal in the third inning was poorly defended by the Giants, giving Busch plenty of time to swipe home. Busch has hit safely in seven straight games, going 9-for-26 (.346) with three extra-base hits and six RBI in that span. Overall, he's batting .253 with eight home runs, two steals, 42 RBI, 31 runs scored, 13 doubles and two triples over 70 games this season.

  • Pedro Ramirez 2B | CHC

Cubs' Pedro Ramirez: Swats first major-league homer

Ramirez went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Saturday's 6-1 win over the Giants.

Ramirez's fifth-inning blast was the first homer of his big-league career. The 22-year-old infielder was called up May 22 but has struggled to find consistent playing time. Through 12 games, he's hitting .250 with a .752 OPS, one homer, two RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and no stolen bases over 31 plate appearances. Prior to his call-up, he hit .312 with a .942 OPS, nine long balls, 40 RBI and 34 runs scored over 43 games with Triple-A Iowa, so there's some all-around appeal here if he can find a more regular role.
