Hays isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus San Diego.

Hays will head to the bench Tuesday in the midst of a six-game hitting streak, giving Gavin Lux a chance to start in left field and bat fourth against right-hander Michael King.

Steer isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres.

Steer will get a chance to regroup Tuesday after going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts during Monday's series opener. Sal Stewart will fill the void at first base and bat second.

Kim isn't in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

After starting three straight games against right-handed starters, Kim will step out of the lineup Tuesday despite right-hander German Marquez taking the mound for Colorado. Miguel Rojas will get the nod at the keystone while batting ninth.

Smith (hand) will start at catcher and bat fourth Tuesday against the Rockies.

Smith missed five games after taking a pitch off his right hand last Wednesday, but he'll return behind the dish Tuesday and catch for starter Emmet Sheehan. Smith had gone 4-for-12 with a homer, two RBI and two runs scored in his previous five games before getting hurt.

Gurriel will undergo ACL surgery Thursday and is expected to need at least 9-to-10 months of recovery, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Gurriel tore his ACL on Sept. 2, which will force him out for the rest of the 2025 season as well as much of the upcoming 2026 season. If the reported recovery timeline stays true for the outfielder, he might be able to return in June or July of next year.

The Dodgers optioned Casparius to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Casparius had been having a solid stretch since July 25 as he notched a 2.63 ERA across 13.2 innings in that span. However, he loses his spot on the active roster to Alex Vesia (oblique), who was activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

The Dodgers reinstated Vesia (oblique) from the injured list Tuesday.

A right oblique strain has kept Vesia on the shelf since Aug. 21, though he pitched two shutout innings while striking out three batters in two rehab appearances at Triple-A Oklahoma City. Now fully healthy, the 29-year-old southpaw will reclaim a high-leverage role in the Dodgers' bullpen after posting a 2.75 ERA and 0.99 WHIP through 52.1 innings before his injury. Ben Casparius was optioned to Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Castro will start in right field and bat seventh in Tuesday's game against Atlanta.

Castro will cover right field on the same day that Kyle Tucker was placed on the injured list due to a calf strain. While Tucker was out of the lineup for Monday's series opener, Seiya Suzuki drew the start in right field, and Castro played center field while Pete Crow-Armstrong occupied the designated-hitter spot. Crow-Armstrong should patrol center most days moving forward with Suzuki as the DH, which should open up right field for Castro on a near-everyday basis. Castro is batting just .164 in 24 games for the Cubs, but his playing time and fantasy value could get a temporary boost with Tucker on the IL.

The Cubs recalled Ballesteros from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

The 21-year-old will join the Cubs for the fourth time this season with Kyle Tucker (calf) landing on the injured list, Ballesteros won't directly take Tucker's position in right field, but Chicago could use Seiya Suzuki more in right field to open up the DH spot for Ballesteros, who is one of the organization's top prospects and has an .859 OPS with 13 homers in 114 Triple-A games this year.

The Cubs placed Tucker on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Sept. 6, due to a left calf strain, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.

The 28-year-old hasn't seen the field since last Tuesday due to the injury, and the Cubs finally elected to move him to the injured list a week later. Tucker will be eligible to be reinstated Sept. 16, though it's unclear if he's expected to be fully recovered by that point. Moises Ballesteros was called up to fill the open roster spot.
