Garcia is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Mets.

The Mets are sending lefty David Peterson to the hill, and the left-handed-hitting Garcia will cede second base to Paul DeJong. It's the second straight and fifth time over the last seven games versus southpaws that Garcia has been held out of the starting lineup.

Hassell is not in the lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the Mets.

Hassell had started four of the previous six contests in center field, but he'll begin Tuesday's series opener on the bench. Jacob Young will be tasked with center-field duties for the Nationals.

The Phillies optioned Hoffman to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

The right-hander was promoted Monday and will return to Lehigh Valley after giving up three runs over an inning against the Mariners in his MLB debut. Jose Alvarado (suspension) was reinstated to round out Philadelphia's active roster.

The Phillies reinstated Alvarado (suspension) from the restricted list Tuesday.

The left-hander has been sidelined since mid-May after being handed an 80-game suspension for a positive PED test, but he'll rejoin the Phillies for the closing stretch of the regular season. Alvarado was part of the closing mix prior to the suspension with seven saves and a 2.70 ERA, but Jhoan Duran is now locked in as Philadelphia's closer. Due to the suspension, Alvarado won't be eligible to pitch in the playoffs this season.

Kepler is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Mariners.

Kepler has mostly maintained his role as the Phillies' primary left fielder against right-handed pitching even after the team's addition of Harrison Bader, but he'll begin Tuesday's festivities on the bench. Bader is in center field and Brandon Marsh is in left field against Mariners righty Bryce Miller.

Pham is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.

Pham was at the center of a benches-clearing incident in Monday's series opener as he flipped his bat after drawing a walk, though the situation didn't result in any ejections. The veteran outfielder has struggled to a .609 OPS through 15 games in August and finds himself on the bench for Tuesday's contest

Mauricio is not in the lineup for Tuesday's contest versus the Nationals.

Mauricio will be absent from the lineup for a second straight after he had started in each of the three contests prior to that. Brett Baty will hold down third base for the Mets on Tuesday.

The Nationals recalled Chaparro from Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Chaparro should see a decent amount of playing time at first base and/or designated hitter with Nathaniel Lowe now out of the picture. The 26-year-old has slashed .275/.384/.577 with 14 home runs over 48 games this season with Rochester.

Atlanta claimed Fraley (knee) off waivers from the Reds on Tuesday.

The veteran outfielder was designated for assignment by the Reds on Sunday, which happened to come after he hyperextended his right knee in Saturday's 11-inning loss to the Brewers. The injury doesn't appear to be a serious one, and Fraley should immediately step in as Atlanta's No. 4 outfielder. He's unlikely to play frequently in Atlanta while all of Ronald Acuna, Michael Harris and Jurickson Profar are healthy.

Walker is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game in Miami.

It marks the second day in a row and the third time over the last five games against right-handed pitching that Walker has been absent from the Cardinals' lineup. Walker -- who is 1-for-18 with eight strikeouts over his last six contests -- will again cede right field to Lars Nootbaar, while Nathan Church receives his third straight start in center field.
